Part of the adventure of a “working” vessel is that change is a given.  Depending on weather and other daily circumstances, the crew may be obliged to make changes to the program.  Therefore, the times for each day are subject to change. The change may be to maintain a safe environment or improve the experience.  Please maintain a flexible attitude throughout your cruise.

Rovinj, Croatia

Rovinj is a typical example of a Mediterranean town. The town is dominated by the Baroque three-nave church of St. Euphemia (Fuma). Close to the harbour are the clock tower, the Baroque Balbi’s Arch and the former 17th century Town Hall. To the east lies the complex of the Franciscan monastery and to the south, Rovinj’s oldest monument, the Romanesque heptagonal chapel of the Holy Trinity.

Hvar, Croatia

Also located just off the Dalmatian Coast, the small port of Hvar has been a favorite getaway since the time of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Venetians as well as Austro-Hungarian Royalty. Aside from being visually appealing, we may actually smell the island before we see it! The picturesque Lavender fields and valleys give off a heavenly aroma that wafts through the air and provides a feeling of calm and happiness.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

This breathtaking city is on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites for a very good reason! The orange-tiled roofs, elegant bell towers, and 16th Century Old Town easily make this city one of the top tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. The distinctive Old Town is encircled by massive stone walls and paved with limestone. Stroll down Stradun, lined with shops and restaurants, or visit Dubrovnik Cathedral. Don’t leave without walking the wall around the city for amazing views!

Kotor, Montenegro

A stunning rock-walled chasm, the longest arm of the sea in Southern Europe, separates the coastal mountains. This is a beautiful and unique town that has been naturally preserved by its isolation. Baka Harbour, the medieval city in Kotor, is a darling, unspoiled town that is sure to entice you for the day.

Corfu, Greece

The lushest (and some say the loveliest) of all the Greek Islands, Corfu lies just a stone’s throw from the Albanian coast. Nowhere is the stunning natural beauty of Corfu more evident than in the small village of Paleocastritsa, where legend says Odysseus was washed ashore to be rescued by Nausicaa.

Taormina, Sicily

Barreling under full sail through the narrow Strait of Messina past Scylla and Charybdis, where rock and whirlpool almost claimed Ulysses, you arrive in lovely Taormina. Perched on the shoulder of Mt. Etna, Taormina inspired Goethe to say that ‘It is the greatest work of art and nature.’

Sorrento, Italy

Sorrento, whose city walls rise straight out of the sea, is located on the lovely Amalfi Coast and overlooks the Bay of Naples. Optional excursions might include taking a trip back in history to Pompeii, where the ashen remains of ancient Romans lie frozen in time.

Gaeta, Italy

During the Middle Ages Gaeta, a coastal city south of Rome, was a fortified settlement, and vibrant port which carried out trade with countries in the eastern Mediterranean. Gaeta is shrouded in history and rich in ancient monuments. Here you will find Monte Orlando Park, a protected area with Roman ruins, Access to Monte Orlando is only on foot or by a shuttle bus during summer months. As you ascend the mountain you will pass the statue of the Madonna and Child which looks out protectively over the beautiful Bay of Gaeta. It is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers.

Ponza and Palmarola, Italy

The pastel houses of Ponza Town rise in neat terraced rows from the busy harbour where sleekly groomed yachts and ramshackle fishing boats moor side by side. Happily, there are few tourists here, so it’s a delight to wander through the unspoiled town. Palmarola is a snorkelling heaven that is part of a group called The Pontine Islands, located off the coast between Rome and Naples. A craggy landscape with pink coral beaches and emerald coves beckons so don’t forget your swimsuit and flippers. Totally unique, isolated and stunning.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by Singles Travel International. Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre and post trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional. Singles Travel International is a licensed ticketing agency and oftentimes has low negotiated fares.

If you plan to arrange your own flights, arrive at the Venice airport (VCE) by 4:00 pm on August 30, 2024, and depart from the Rome airport (FCO) after 12:00 pm on September 11, 2024.

If you are taking advantage of the 2 Night Pre Package in Venice, arrive at any time on August 29, 2024.

Please schedule your fights to arrive at the Venice airport (VCE) by 4:00 pm on August 30, 2024, and depart from the Rome airport (FCO) after 12:00 pm on September 11, 2024.

If you are taking advantage of the 2 Night Pre Package in Venice, arrive at any time on August 29, 2024.

Transportation between the airport and hotel is on your own, and we recommend that you use a water taxi. Water taxis cost approximately 60-65 euros from Marco Polo airport to our hotel in Venice. ALWAYS CONFIRM THE PRICE WITH YOUR TAXI DRIVER BEFORE BEGINNING THE TRIP. In case of a language barrier, it is best to have the address of our hotel written down so you may hand it to the driver.

Singles Travel International includes transportation from our Venice hotel to the Royal Clipper on August 31, 2024.

You may purchase a return transfer for the end of the cruise on the Price and Options tab; this transfer will be from the Royal Clipper to the Rome airport (FCO) on September 11, 2024. In order to book the transfer, please reserve your return flight to depart after 12:00 pm on September 11, 2024.

Our cruise does not include airfare, certain transfers, extra hotel nights before (except for the night of August 30-31, 2024) and after the cruise, and shore excursions.

You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in Singles Travel International events), meals not indicated in itinerary, incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, gratuities to your Singles Travel International Concierge ($15 per day) and Star Clipper crew members. The approximate gratuity is $11 USD per day, which is pooled by the entire Royal Clipper Crew.

Aboard the Royal Clipper, you’ll set up an on-board account with a credit card to charge onboard purchases such as bar tab and shore excursions to your cabin. The currently onboard Star Clippers is the Euro.

Your onboard account is billed in Euros, and the charges are made by a European bank.  Therefore, your credit card company may assess fees to convert your charges from Euro to USD.  We recommend that you bring a “no fee” credit card for international transactions.  Many banks offer this option. Your final bill may be paid with cash (USD or Euros), travelers’ check or credit card (Discover not accepted).

The Croatian currency is the Kuna. When listed as a price, the Kuna is abbreviated to Kn. There is no need to purchase Croatian Kunas prior to your trip, as ATMs are readily available.

The currency used in Italy, Greece and Montenegro is the Euro.

Exchange Rates: The exchange rate for the Euro fluctuates often. You may find the current exchange rates in the financial sections of newspapers and on the Internet. You may also find a number of websites by typing “foreign exchange rates” in your search engine. One website is: xe.com.

Currency Exchange: Many locations will accept major credit cards, but for incidentals and small vendors you will need some local currency. ATM machines will dispense local currency for internationally accepted ATM cards. They are usually conveniently located in large cities but are limited in smaller towns and rural areas.

You may exchange cash for local currencies at hotels, banks and exchange bureaus. Banks offer the best rates, but beware: hours are limited in Italy. They are generally open from 9 a.m.-12 noon and 2-5 p.m.

You may purchase Euros from your local bank in advance or get a small amount on arrival at the airport. There is always an exchange at airports, but the rates are typically horrible, so steer clear.

We recommend that you bring a combination of $300-500 USD depending on your spending habits, for meals and shopping, as well as a debit card for withdrawals and a major credit card, preferably Visa or Master Card.

Credit Cards: Your credit card will be accepted to settle your incidentals bill at all hotels and in major shops and restaurants.

If you travel a fair amount, you may want to check with your bank and see if they can provide you with a debit card that doesn’t incur charges when used abroad.

We generally recommend $300-$500 to members based on their lifestyles. Most charges such as cocktails, excursions and tips for the crew are able to be placed on your shipboard account and charged to your credit card. Allow for shopping in port and any off-ship dining.

A passport is required for travel to Europe. Be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your return date. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or visit their website.

We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your passport.

Non US Citizens are responsible for verifying their own required documentation for this tour.

Our affordable Premium Memberships allows solo travelers the ability to have Your Own Space™️ for a lot less so that you never have to share. Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Inspired by the tall ship Preussen, the Royal Clipper has the proud distinction of being the largest and only five-masted full-rigged sailing ship built since her predecessor was launched at the beginning of the last century. With her complement of 42 sails, Royal Clipper is a splendid sight to behold.

You might think she was an apparition from the grand age of sail, but Royal Clipper is as new as tomorrow, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and every comfort and luxury one could wish for. For connoisseurs of sail cruising, the 439 foot Royal Clipper offers the ultimate sea-going experience, balancing the grandeur, adventure and tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yacht. Royal Clipper carries just 227 guests in luxurious style. A full 19,000 square feet of open deck and three swimming pools create a wonderfully spacious and expansive outdoor environment.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports. And the ultimate unique Royal Clipper experience, the one-of-a-kind Captain Nemo Lounge, is the site of our spa and health club with underwater glass portholes!

Each cabin is an ensuite upon itself with your own private bathroom. While cabins vary in size, location and price, all include many important comforts:

– Private Bathroom Facilities with full size toilet*
– Royal Clipper has 220-volt (European plug)
– Sufficient wardrobe space including under bed storage for luggage and lots of hooks to hang clothing and towels.
– Daily Steward Service and nightly turn-down service
– Television, DVD player, phone, thermostat control, private safe, hair dryer

Public Space Includes:

– Air Conditioned Dining Room with Sea Views from Every Table
– 2 outdoor swimming pools (dipping)
– Observation Lounge
– Piano Bar
– Tropical Bar
– Library
– Nemo Spa and Fitness Facility

No! Just relax and laze about and leave the sailing to Royal Clipper’s professional crew. But if you wish to learn the ropes, the crew is more than happy to have you help hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel and even enjoy classes on knot tying, the stars, or navigation.

Climb the mast (with safety harness provided) to one of the passenger lookout crows-nests and get the most spectacular view ever!

As little or as much as you wish. This is your home away from home for the week, so you may sunbathe, jump off and swim or float, kayak, read, socialize, party, dance, lead, follow, participate in group games, steer the ship, enjoy sailing related classes, sleep on deck under the stars, play board games, exercise, or just sit and take in the beauty of the ship, listen to the wind in the rigging and the waves lapping against the hull. You are the master of your day! This is not a “if it’s 1:00 p.m., there’s bingo in the Lido” kind of an experience. Come prepared to be interesting and interested.

Yes! A Complimentary Watersports Program Includes Water-skiing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Sunfish Sailing and Snorkeling. Equipment is provided by the cruise line on a first come, first served basis.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports.

Most of the day is spent in port exploring the ports of call. Excursions and activities vary from port to port. Sightseeing, wine tasting, island tours, sunbathing on pristine beaches and more.

Excursions offered by Star Clippers for summer 2024 are NOW available.  Singles Travel International provides a sneak peek and we recommend that you share your ideas and intentions with all of our fellow travelers on our private, singles only chat.  Note that you must be logged in to enter.

Star Clipper Excursions are reserved once we board the vessel.  Be prepared to reserve your excursions on the first day to avoid disappointment.

Prices are subject to change at any time but generally cost €50-€110 ($55-$120).  All excursions purchased onboard, not in advance, are billed directly to your shipboard account.

All options are purchased onboard, not in advance, and billed directly to your shipboard account.

Yes. Coffee, tea and juices are available at all meals on a complimentary basis.

Singles Travel International has also included a Private, Singles Only Party with Complimentary Open Bar and Hors d’oeuvres (on our second or 3rd night on the cruise) as well as a Complimentary Glass of Wine with Dinner Every Night!

Smoking is permitted in designated areas at the Tropical Bar and on Sun Deck. Candles, matches and lighters may never be used in your cabin.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 30 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day. From the moment you arrive at our Venice hotel, our Singles Travel International Concierge is waiting to meet you at our Welcome Happy Hour/Mixer.

Our “Baby Boomer” vacations cater to singles in their 50s and 60s but you will often meet singles ranging anywhere from 45-75. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages.

We recommend that you meet the members of the Singles Travel International Community online where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

We also invite you to join our 50+ singles community when you are not on the road, before and after your vacation @ www.SingleLife.Today. Membership and most events are free and when you upgrade to Premium, you’ll have access to our live, virtual tours to exotic locations plus save $1000s of dollars on Your Own Space™.

Temperatures in Croatia and Italy will be around 75-85 degrees, during our sailing. Perfect weather for a summer Mediterranean sailing vacation!

Seasickness is seldom a problem on large sailing vessels. The wind in the sails prevents much of the rolling motion that may cause sea sickness. If you are prone to motion sickness or have experienced seasickness in the past, consult your doctor for a patch, an appropriate medication or natural remedy. Make sure to take your medication prior to sailing or feeling ill, or it may not be effective.

Singles Travel International notes that ginger used as an ingredient in many of the local dishes was a plus for keeping us from getting an upset stomach.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check two bags, weighing 50 pounds each, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Note: Pack light! We recommend a soft sided or duffel type bag due to limited space in your cabin.

This week is super relaxed, no formalities! Don’t forget a light jacket or sweatshirt for night breezes when star gazing. If you plan on hiking, don’t forget a pair of sneakers or hiking boots, otherwise, bare feet and sandals are all you’ll need. The sun is strong, so make sure you use a stronger sunscreen than you’d use at home. If you must doll up and need to have your hairdryer and curling iron, electricity onboard is European 220 volts, so make sure you bring an adaptor and/or converter.

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable, including prescription medications and travel documents. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

My Packing List: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– An open minded attitude and a ready smile!
– Soft sided duffle bag for easy storage and easy access (may be stored under your bed).
– Light jacket or long sleeve shirt for evenings on deck star gazing.
– Tevas or deck shoes for onboard (or barefoot).
– A pair of sneakers or hiking boots
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor.
– Light rain gear.
– Bug spray and Benadryl cream.
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials and a toiletry bag with hook for hanging.
– Drinking Swag (based on your personal needs):  keep drinks cool or hot with a Travel Coffee Cup with lid, Travel water bottle, Beer Coozie, Turvis (insulted) glass, small collapsible cooler.
– Beach towel if desired, not necessary. Pareo wrap for ladies.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, Neosporin or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Power strip for all your gadgets – most cabins have only one outlet.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book (iphone/smart phone) for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of batteries and extra memory chips.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

Meet Your STI Concierge

Vicki

Hi! My name is Vicki, and I am so happy to have joined the STI family as a Concierge! After having a career as a health-and-fitness writer and then having children, I decided to make a career change in order to pursue my love for travel. For 9 years now, I have designed small-group tours all over Europe and have led tours in Italy, Malta and Croatia. From the moment I began leading tours, being able to share wonderful experiences and make people smile through discovering a new location - or perhaps through discovering something about themselves - I felt as if I had found exactly what I was meant to do! I look forward to making your vacation dreams come true.
