Sydney Option Begins: Monday, December 30, 2024
Main Tour Begins: Thursday, January 2, 2025
Tour Ends: Saturday, January 10, 2025

Make this the ultimate vacation by combining our New Zealand New Year’s Eve Singles Cruise from Sydney December 20-January 2! If you choose to combine, omit booking the 3 night Sydney option (December 30-January 2) as part of this land program January 2-10.  Your cruise includes 1 night in Sydney on December 19-20, before we depart for New Zealand.

Day 1- Monday, December 30, 2024 – Sydney (Optional)

Arrive at any time and transfer, on your own, to the hotel. Once checked in, begin exploring Sydney, at leisure. Please note that normal check-in times apply, but the hotel will store your luggage. For those arriving earlier in the day, take a stroll along the waterfront or the Rocks area to admire the Sydney Opera House. The city’s most iconic landmark was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and opened by Queen Elizabeth 11 in 1973. Around two million people, from all over the world, come to see concerts and cultural performances at the the Opera House each year. We recommend that you take an optional guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site to discover its history, folklore, and iconic appeal on January 1 when it’s open to the public. It is worth a visit just to hear the impressive sound of the grand organ, which took 10 years to build! With more than 10,000 pipes, it is the largest mechanical organ in the world.

We also recommend a visit to the Australian Museum, Bondi Beach, or Darling Harbour. Be sure to connect with your fellow travelers back at the hotel at 6 p.m. for happy hour and an early dinner. We imagine that everyone will have a bit of jet lag.

Dinner, and the rest of the night, are at your leisure.

Overnight:

Overnight:
Kangaroo island  Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge

Day 7- Sunday, January 5, 2025 – Kangaroo Island – Adelaide (B,L,D)

Enjoy breakfast as a group before meeting our local guide.

We’ll first travel to the islands western side and discover the remarkable Flinders Chase National Park – one of the oldest and most important national parks in South Australia. Making up almost 20 per cent of the land, most of this park is a Wilderness Protection Area and home to various flora and fauna unique to Kangaroo Island. See Admirals Arch, Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, Weirs Cove and Cape du Couedics colony of 10,000 long-nosed fur seals. Discover the picturesque formations of the Remarkable Rocks – these granite boulders balance dramatically on the cliffs edge, which plunges 75 m into the Southern Ocean.

We’ll enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch in a secluded location.

Depending on time and island conditions, our guides have said they will strive fit in a visit to some local island producers on one of the 2 days we are touring – these include a family-owned eucalyptus oil refinery and a honey farm, a third-generation family business and home to the only pure strain of Ligurian Bee in the world. Fingers crossed for mother nature!

After an inspiring day on this unique island habitat, we’ll have dinner included together at a spot chosen by our local guide. We’ll be keeping it simple and early in order to be “up and at’em” for our morning flight tomorrow (Quantas #2143 departing at 9:45 a.m.) to Melbourne.

Time and conditions permitting, we will enjoy a walk in the forest in the Otway Ranges. A truly unique day out, taking in the wonders of the Victorian Coastline. Lunch will be included.

Due to the distance to travel back to Melbourne, we will not head back into the city but instead overnight in Geelong. For those who wish to dine together, our Singles Travel International Concierge will offer options.

Overnight: Geelong – Rydges Hotel

Day 10- Wednesday, January 8, 2025 – Melbourne (B,D)

Mornington Peninsula & Phillip Island

Enjoy breakfast and some free time this morning before reboarding our coach. We will travel to the Mornington Peninsula today crossing on the Queenscliff Ferry to Portsea, to avoid a long road journey that we passed during yesterday’s adventure.

Today we will enjoy time exploring the Monrington area and then heading to Phillip Island to see the Little Penguins famously known in this region. Our trip today include the 4 Park pass, and this allows us to access to the Koala Conservation center, Churchill Island, Antarctic Journey and the Penguin Parade with the Penguin Plus viewing area upgrade.

Together, we’ll enjoy an early, quick dinner at Rusty Water Bar and Restaurant on Phillip Island (0r similar) prior to the Penguin parade at 6:30 p.m.

We’ll reach Summerland Beach just before dusk for the Penguin Parade, one of Australia’s most popular natural tourist attractions. Witness the Penguin’s daily journey from the sea to the land.  Full of a day’s catch of fish, they return to their nests to feed their awaiting families.  Convenient boardwalks and platforms ensure a prefect view while safeguarding environmental and ecological protocols to protect the penguins.

We’ll all transfer back to our Melbourne hotel reaching this around 10-11pm depending on road conditions etc

Overnight: Melbourne – Hilton Hotel Melbourne Little Queen Street

Get ready to stop at several wineries for some sampling of the region’s finest wines.

Savor a wonderful 3 course lunch paired wines at the De Bartoli Winery, following a tour of the grounds and winery.

We’ll also visit Coombe Yarra Valley, once the home of world-famous opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. Coombe Yarra Valley is a historic destination that includes a world class restaurant, wine experiences and guided tours of the original Melba Estate gardens.

Our last stop is the piece de resistance, Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery!  What a great way to chill out at the end of our incredible day.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every trip sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 31 years, we have perfected the singles vacation experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day. From the moment you join our tour, our Singles Travel International Concierge is waiting to meet you. Our first day begins with an orientation and the camaraderie builds as we go along. The nature of the trip is trying something new, challenging yourself and motivating those around you. The bonds that develop on our tours are by far the strongest and longest lasting.

Our “Baby Boomer” vacations cater to singles in their 50s and 60s but you will often meet singles ranging anywhere from 45-75. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages.

We recommend that you meet the members of the Singles Travel International Community online where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

Yes! Singles Travel International is the only singles vacation company that features a travel community where members may send messages to one another at any time. Once you make a reservation, you are invited to post messages on the trip chat, which is great for finding out more about your fellow travel companions, coordinating taxi shares, setting up tours and more. Your trip chat is accessible from the trip page. Ask your Singles Travel International Reservation Guide for assistance.

Our program for 50+ singles also includes live online events plus a virtual Meet & Greet with your travel companions before you depart. View and get reminders for each event on our community page, www.SingleLife.Today.  Be sure to sign up today so that you don’t miss out on anything!

It’s summertime in the southern hemisphere! We chose the southern region for our tour because of its more pleasant summer temps compared to the northern regions.

The average temperature in Sydney & Adelaide in January ranges from a high of 81°F (27°C) to a low of 69°F (20°C). Some would describe it as pleasantly warm with a gentle breeze.  Melbourne is a pleasant mid 70s by day and a bit cooler at night.

A valid passport is required for travel to Australia. Be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your return date. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or visit their website.

US Citizens are required to obtain a Visa prior to entering Australia. Singles Travel International has NOT included the visa cost in your tour package. You must download the Australian ETA App on your phone and apply for your visa via the app. Click here for a step-by-step guide as well as “How To” videos to assist you with the application.
Cost: There is a service charge of AUD20 ($13 USD) to use the Australian ETA app. There is no other charge payable for an ETA.
Processing times: In most cases you will be notified of the result of your ETA application immediately. Your application may take longer if you do not complete the application process correctly or we require further information. We recommend that you apply well ahead of when you want to travel.

Non US Citizens are responsible for verifying their own required documentation for this tour.

If you have dual citizenship, please email us at service@singlestravelintl.com to advise immediately for proper issuance.

We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, visa, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your original documents.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check two bags, weighing 50 pounds each, for a fee. In addition, you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Please note that the max luggage allowance on domestic flights within Australia is 1 checked bag (44 lbs/20 kgs) and 1 carry on (15 lbs/7 kgs) per person. Any additional luggage is subject to airline fees and is not included.

We are visiting Australia during their summer. We anticipate that the lowest temps will be in the high 60s to low 70s but may reach high 80s, after all, it’s mother nature! We chose the southern region for our tour because of its more pleasant summer temps compared to the northern regions.

As always, for traveling, we recommend that you pack layers with 3 main colors and accessories. Start with pants and shorts and a few T-shirts, add a light sweater or sweatshirt and then a water/wind proof jacket with a hood, just in case. Comfortable walking shoes are a must with extra socks in case you get wet.

The tours may last anywhere in length from 2 to 8 hours of intermittent walking and standing. Although these tours aren’t strenuous, a certain amount of stamina and health are required in order to be able to walk slowly and stand for extended periods of time. At any time, you can opt out of an excursion! After all, this is your vacation. Keep in mind that part of the charm of Australia, in general, is the terrain— therefore, in most locations, there will be uneven surfaces and hills to ascend and descend.

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match 1-3 colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Our tour is moderately active with a lot of walking.

Essential Items: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– A smile and an open minded attitude
– Notepad, reading material and a travel journal to write all about your experience.
– Bathing suit, we have our own indoor pool!
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor
– A good, comfortable pair of broken-in walking shoes
– A pair of shoes for restaurants (loafers, sandals, etc.)
– Ladies will want to bring a nicer warm wrap and gentlemen a nicer jacket, for evening wear.
– Water Resistant Jacket with light lining and/or collapsible umbrella, just in case
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, money or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face
– Small, Swiss Army type utility knife. Remember to pack this in your checked luggage!
– Home address book (smart phone with contacts) for sending postcards to all your friends who said they’d go but didn’t! A useful tip is to pre-write or print names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of film, cards, extra batteries and/or chargers.
– An adapter and converter for your electrical gadgets. *Plugs in Australia have two flat metal pins shaped live a “V” and some may contain a third flat pin in the centre. Click here to view more info.

The currency used in Australia is the AUD.

Exchange Rates: The exchange rate fluctuates often. You may find the current exchange rates in the financial sections of newspapers and on the Internet. For current exchange rates, please check here.

Currency Exchange: Many locations will accept major credit cards, but for incidentals and small vendors you will need some local currency. ATM machines will dispense local currency for internationally accepted ATM cards and/or credit cards. They are usually conveniently located in large cities, but are limited in smaller towns and rural areas.

You may exchange cash and traveler’s checks for local currencies at hotels, banks and exchange bureaus. Banks offer the best rates, and there is always an exchange at airports.

We recommend that you bring a combination of $300-500 USD depending on your spending habits for meals and shopping, as well as a debit card for withdrawals and a major credit card, preferably VI or MC.

Credit Cards: Your credit card will be accepted to settle your incidentals bill at all hotels and in major shops and restaurants.

Your “Final Vacation Details & Meetup Information” including transportation and how to meet up with the group will be available on the YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS button on the left navigation bar on the trip site, 21 days prior to trip start date.  We suggest you leave a copy of this with your family.

For easy, less expensive communication in Australia, you may be able to use your own phone plan, generally $10 per day on demand (check before departure).

Internet access is available almost everywhere, including our hotels, but access is not always free. We recommend that you contact your provider before you depart to add an international roaming, text and data package. Most may be disabled once you return home.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In an emergency after hours, please contact Tammy Weiler via What’s App at 815-715-6998.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

Meet Your STI Concierge

Cory

Aloha! My name is Cory Montee and I am honored to be your Tour Concierge with Singles Travel International.

As a child, I was blessed to be part of a family that loved to explore the World. Soon after graduating from the University of Missouri, I set out to complete a long list of destinations that fascinated me.

After almost three decades of employment on various luxury cruise lines and travel companies, two dogs and a parrot, a few of my favorite adventures include the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Alaska and the South Pacific.

Expanding my knowledge of other cultures is always important but I love sharing past experiences with others most. There is so much out there!

I currently reside in Hawaii and enjoy scuba diving, camping and a good game of Scrabble.

What Our Members Are Saying

I grew up in South Africa so when I saw you were doing a trip there this year – naturally, I was the first one to sign up! Keep in mind I had not been back to the land of my childhood in 30 years! Wow, Wow and more Wow’s! First of all – STI did an amazing job with the itinerary! Within 10 days, I had 6 mini vacations, and got to see 6 mini eco environments! The Safari in Madikwe was absolutely amazing! The game rangers were beyond knowledgeable, the staff was amazing, food beyond excellent and my accommodations – were beyond 5 star!   I was thrilled to be in the Kalahari again, how awesome was it to take an outdoor shower whilst watching Giraffe’s and Elephants pass by!!!! Then of course, the animals…just gorgeous  exactly I got so many “money shots” of Lions, Cheetah’s, Elephants, Rhino’s Giraffe’ etc. I even caught a storm, a bush fire and a tripe rainbow – can you imagine? Did it end there…hell to the no! Then we were off to Hermanus, a gorgeous coastal town. I changed my mind at the last minute and ended up cage diving with a Great White Shark. Now in fairness, my eyes were closed but I was in the cage, I was submerged and there was a shark!!! Off the bucket list ha! Then it was off to pet Cheetah’s at the Cheetah outreach program on our way to Cape Town. I just want to tell you the Cheetah purred for me – amazing! Then a tour of Cape Town, a visit to the Seals, Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, Penguins in Simon’s Town and even wine tasting in gorgeous Stellenbosch! I ended my time with a visit to Robben Island and had tea with a wonderful South African family that invited me! I did so much more, but it’s too much to write here - Just amazing – all of it! I would be remiss if I did not mention Chris Tromp! I have travelled to over 64 countries and been on planes, trains and automobiles. I have done every tour you can image. Chris was amazing and the best tour guide I have ever encountered! He was passionate and knowledgeable about South Africa, from history to his knowledge of the land and animals – I was in awe of his expertise!!!! He was patient and helpful and always took care of everyone aboard the trip and tried to fulfill even the smallest of requests. Trust me when I tell you that was not an easy job even with a small group. His passion and positivity inspired me beyond words! For me this was not just another visit to another place. I left my soul in South Africa many years ago and thanks to you and Chris – my soul is truly at peace with South Africa. I am proud of my time spent there and feel so blessed to have the opportunity to return! I can’t wait to go back… Thank you for everything, this was more than a trip for me, it was a life changing experience!!!! Sincerely, Amanda

After checking out the Singles Travel International website for more than two years, I decided to take the risk and sign up for my dream vacation…New Zealand/Australia. It was the best move I’ve made in retirement..and by far the best trip I’ve ever taken! Everything was perfect….not one glitch. The trip was very organized and well planned. The concierges Else and Heidi handled all details and questions promptly and efficiently with pleasant attitudes,. They made sure everyone was included in all activities that interested them and gave wonderful suggestions and advice when needed. I think what I enjoyed the most were the other travelers. I met people that were passionate about travel and simply said…sooooo much fun! STI has made it very easy to keep in touch with these new travel buddies about future adventures. I have three more STI trips on the bucket list. Thank you Tammy, Robin, Heidi, Else and the entire STI team for the travel opportunities you have opened for me!!
