Day 1 – Friday – April 17

Board your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2 – Saturday – April 18 (D)

Arrive in Amsterdam, Holland (Embarkation)

Welcome to Amsterdam, Holland, famous for it’s canals and beautiful houses!  Flights into Amsterdam must arrive by 3 pm and members must be onboard by 5 pm.

Those who arrive early may choose to join a Guided Optional Excursion to beautiful Zaanse Schans, where you’ll see a wonderful collection of well-preserved historic windmills and Dutch houses.

Before dinner, meet your cruising companions and crew at a WELCOME RECEPTION at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Day 3 – Sunday – April 19 (B,L,D)

Rotterdam, Holland

Welcome to Rotterdam, a Cultural Hub with a lot of History. After almost complete destruction in WWII, the city had to be rebuilt and is now best known for its Bold, Modern Architecture, setting it apart from traditional Dutch towns. It is the second largest city in the Netherlands, behind Amsterdam. Europe’s largest port, Rotterdam has a very extensive distribution system of rails, roads and waterways earning it nicknames like “Gateway to Europe” and “Gateway to the World.”

Join a full or half day Guided Tour of breathtaking Keukenhof, the World’s Largest Flower Gardens, with more than 7 million Tulips, Daffodils and Hyacinths, as well as other bulbs each year! There is also an afternoon Guided Tour of Gouda, famous for it’s Dutch Yellow Cheese, Stroopwafels (Syrup waffles) and Gouda Candles.

There is much to see, and taste, in gorgeous Rotterdam. Sample Artisan Beer, Appletart (Dutch Apple Pie) or a Koffie Verkeerd (“wrong coffee”), which is coffee halved with warm milk. Take a scenic bike ride through Rotterdam or the surrounding area before heading back to the ship for dinner and live entertainment onboard.

Day 4 – Monday – April 20 (B,L,D)

Antwerp, Belgium

Antwerp is Belgium’s second-largest city and one of the world’s most important ancient seaports. Here, a guided tour of the city shows us the superb architecture and the Grote Markt, with its beautiful city hall and the Church of Our Lady, or, choose to visit the Botanical Garden and admire an amazing variety of plants, tree and flowers. We also have the option of joining a Guided Excursion to the nearby capital, Brussels—considered home to the European Union, and admire its magnificent palaces and cathedrals. If the optional tours do not entice, we can take time on our own in this bike-friendly city to discover it’s old wharfs and legendary diamond district. Don’t forget to taste Antwerp’s signature Belgium Waffles and crêpes!

Later, enjoy live entertainment on board.

Day 5 – Tuesday – April 21 (B,L,D)

Ghent, Belgium

In a unique way, Ghent, the “diamond” of Flanders, has managed to preserve its medieval charm and power while keeping up with the times.

This morning, we will have time for a walk through the city to discover the stunning architecture and canals of Belgium’s “best kept secret”. A Certified Local Guide will proudly point out that the city center alone is a showcase of medieval Flemish wealth and commercial success, and will take us into ST. BAAF’S CATHEDRAL.

From here, an optional excursion to fascinating Bruges, with its criss-crossed canals, cobbled streets, medieval buildings and charming old patrician houses, is also available.

Day 6 – Wednesday – April 22 (B,L,D)

Middelburg-Veere, Holland

It is certain that Middelburg was originally built as a stronghold to protect the population of Zeeland from the water and from enemies. Later, it became a prosperous merchant city that spent great wealth on the construction of important buildings. Here, we can join a guided walking tour of this historic city, with it’s 15th-century gothic Town Hall, learn about the spice trade and its prosperity in the Dutch East India Company trading. Admire the winding cobbled streets and canals that circle the old town before sampling some Babbelaar cookies, fries and beer before we cruise on to Veere this afternoon.

In Veere, join a guided tour of the Delta Works. After the flood of 1953, during which more than 1,800 people drowned in one night, the Delta Plan was born to prevent another disaster of this magnitude. The final defense in the battle against the water is the storm flood barrier, almost six miles long and considered a technical miracle. The project took 30 years to complete and stands strong as a technical marvel.

Before rejoining your ship, enjoy some free time to wander in the charming town of Veere, once an important wool-trading center.

Later, enjoy live entertainment onboard.

Day 7 – Thursday – April 23 (B,L,D)

Willemstad, Netherlands

Welcome to the beautiful city of Willemstad, located in the Dutch province of North Brabant. This little city is packed with history and known for it’s windmills and well preserved fortifications.

Embark on a free morning to explore the well-preserved fortifications of this historic town, join our Avalon adventure host for a jog or for a Guided Walking Tour to discover the many beautifully restored buildings from the 17th and 18th Century.

Later, enjoy a Cheese Tasting on board or join a lecture to learn the importance of botany and nature as we prepare to sail back to Amsterdam.

Day 8 – Friday – April 24 (B,L,D)

Amsterdam, Holland

Welcome to Amsterdam! Holland’s sophisticated, modern capital has a rich and fascinating history. This delightful 700-year-old city with its elegant and classic architecture, cafés, and restaurants has a distinct ambiance. Discover Aalsmeer Flower Auction, where around 20 million flowers are sold each day, or, explore the iconic waterways by CANAL BOAT, cruising through the elegant grachten lined with stately homes dating back to Amsterdam’s “Golden Age.”

Our garden lover’s also have the unique opportunity of gaining access to Amsterdam’s secret gardens, hidden behind the brick façades and normally closed to the public. In the afternoon, take some time to taste Amsterdam by sampling savory and sweet Dutch Specialties or choose an Optional Excursion for a city Bike Tour and discover the countryside.

If you are looking for a more historical excursion, join a group for an Optional trip to Holland’s Beautiful Medieval Muiderslot Castle.

Whether you choose one of the Optional Excursions or decide to spend some time exploring on your own, you are sure to fall in love with Amsterdam’s Colorful Streets and Canal Houses!

Day 9 – Saturday – April 25 (B)

Amsterdam, Holland (Disembarkation)

Our vacation ends with breakfast this morning and your homebound flight arrives the same day. Stay an extra day in Amsterdam for more!

Itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of Avalon Waterways without compensation. Singles Travel International is not responsible for the consequences of any changes.

Make sure you are at the Avalon Visionary in Amsterdam, Holland by 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2020. Our local cruise director will be awaiting your arrival at the vessel, will assist with check in and provide specific details on our vacation.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by STI. Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre and post trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate without paying an equivalent fee to the rest of the group that made the reservation with STI. Your credit card on file will automatically be charged.

We offer a pre and post cruise package for this trip, click ‘Price my Trip’ or ‘Book now’ to make your reservation. Transportation to the hotel in Amsterdam is not included (Rates are subject to increase at any time before final payment is made). Although we make every effort, Singles Travel International does not guarantee roommate shares for optional pre and post cruise stays. If no roommate is found, single occupancy rates prevail and are payable 30 days prior to departure.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional. Singles Travel International is a licensed ticketing agency and oftentimes has low negotiated fares.

In order to be ready to begin the tour in Amsterdam, please schedule your flight to arrive into Amsterdam (AMS) on April 18, 2020, by 1:00 p.m. The last available (optional) transfer to the ship will be at 2:00 p.m. You may be required to depart your home city on the day before. If you choose to handle transfer on your own, please note that all passengers MUST be aboard the Visionary by 5:00 p.m.  If you come in early to Amsterdam, on April 17, schedule your flight to arrive at any time.

The trip concludes at 8 a.m. on April 25, 2020 in Amsterdam (AMS) and we recommend scheduling your flight after 12 p.m. The last available (optional) transfer to the airport will be at 10 a.m. If you add extra nights in Amsterdam, schedule your flight any time on departure date.

Airport transfers are offered as options with our cruise/tour and are not included  in Amsterdam. We recommend that you book your airport transfers with us. Please notify us at time of booking or at least 30 days prior to departure of your flight arrival and departure times.

On tour end date (April 25), transfers are $49 one way from the ship to the airport and transfers are available between 6:00 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. The last available (optional) transfer will be at 10:00 a.m. Transfers on non tour dates are available at a rate of $69 each way.

Our tour does not include your airfare and transfers. You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in STI events and wine/beer during dinner on the Visionary), incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, plus gratuities to STI staff ($15 per day), local guides and the cruise staff. You may also be charged a delivery fee, imposed by our vendors for special delivery of documents including international and expedited documents.

Roommate Match: Our site is so popular that we guarantee to find a roommate for you or the single cabin is on us! In order to take advantage of our offer, you must be paid in full by December 20, 2019. Of course, single cabins are available at an additional rate assessed by Avalon Waterways. Even after the cut-off date, we get so many calls that finding a roommate is easy. So please let us know if you are interested when making your booking.

Our guarantee is based on the lowest, inside cabin share rate. If you opt for a higher category and we are unable to match in that category, you are responsible for the difference to move a member into your cabin to make a match. You may also opt to take your own cabin at that time for the single cabin rate. Assessments are made at final payment date, 120 days prior to departure.

Roommate matches are based on the same sex, general age range and smoking preference whenever possible, but not guaranteed. STI reserves the right to make any match up until day of cruising, including roommate changes once onboard for members who select the Share & Save option.

We highly recommend that our guests contact their roommates in advance. Booked members have access to our private online chat. Meet your roommate as well as the other members on your vacation. Singles Travel International makes every effort to accommodate requests, but does not guarantee the satisfaction or success of a roommate match. It’s the responsibility of the guest to contact his/her roommate and ask the appropriate questions.

Optional pre and post cruise/tour stays are not eligible for the guarantee. Chances are excellent that we’ll find you a match, but if no match found by 30 days prior to departure, member pays the single supplement.

Read more about Roommate Matching on our Frequently Asked Questions found at the Help Center.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 25 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day. From the moment you board the ship, our STI Concierge Team is waiting to meet you at our Welcome Aboard Get Together. Our first evening begins with a private, welcome aboard cocktail party followed by daily activities both onboard the ship as well as in each port. We dine together each evening in an open seating arrangement so that you have a chance to meet as many people as possible.

As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages. Our vacations are specifically designed for Baby Boomers and active travelers with an average age range of 50-70. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline.

We recommend that you meet the members of the STI Community online where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

We encourage our members to complete their personal profiles including a photo. Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

Take a few minutes to plan your wardrobe for the cruise by visiting the following sites.

The weather changes from year to year but nevertheless, prepare for all conditions. The temps this time of the year will be pleasant for touring , reaching low 60s to low 70s and sunny. Rain is possible, although not likely, but pack accordingly.

Check out www.wunderground.com for up to date predictions as well as historical data for you destination,

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check one bag, weighing 50 pounds each, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Bring along spring clothing and we recommend that you mix and match using 1-3 colors, such as black, brown and khaki or one other color. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Our cruise will stop in some of the most charming little towns and once we dock, we’re off for adventure. Walking is the best way to see it all. Note that dress code aboard a river cruise is very casual and some days you may have dinner in the same outfit you wore during day when the schedule is full.

Packing Tips: Of course, a scarf is mandatory, it looks chic and turns a daytime outfit into evening easily. Take only what you need; don’t over pack. A river cruise is casual. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

Essential Items for a River Cruise: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– A smile and an open minded attitude
– Binoculars for best sightseeing while cruising
– Light Jacket (wind-and rainproof outer shell)
– A good, comfortable pair of broken-in walking shoes
– A pair of shoes for restaurants, evenings on the town (ship is casual)
– Collapsible umbrella and/or lightweight raingear.
– Sunglasses
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, money or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Small, Swiss Army type utility knife. Remember to pack this in your checked luggage!
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of film and extra batteries.

A passport is required for cruise travel to Europe. Be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your departure. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or visit their website.

Non US citizens are responsible for contacting all countries on our itinerary to secure appropriate documentation in advance.

No inoculations are required for travel to Europe. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommends updating all routine booster shots for travel almost anywhere. In addition, we suggest that you have a physical check-up before your trip, and discuss the type of trip in which you are participating with your physician.

You and your physician may access much more, very detailed health information for travelers (including tips on staying healthy while traveling) on the CDC website. Click their “Traveler’s Health” link or call toll-free 24-hours at 1-800-CDC-INFO (800-232-4636).

The currency used throughout the cruise is the Euro (in port) and US Dollar (onboard). Exchange rates fluctuate often. You may find the current exchange rates in the financial sections of newspapers and on the Internet. You may also find a number of websites by typing “foreign exchange rates” in your search engine. Two specific websites are: xe.com and Money.com.

Currency Exchange: Many locations will accept major credit cards, but for incidentals and small vendors you will need some local currency. ATM machines will dispense local currency for internationally accepted ATM cards and/or credit cards. They are usually conveniently located in large cities, but are limited in smaller towns and rural areas. You may exchange cash and traveler’s checks for local currencies at hotels, banks and exchange bureaus. Banks no longer make change in many European countries.

Credit Cards: Your credit card will be accepted to settle your incidentals bill at all hotels and in major shops, restaurants and aboard the Tranquility II.

Travel Insurance is available through Travel Guard and in addition to direct access immediately upon completing your purchase, you will receive a quote from Travel Guard regarding travel insurance after reserving your vacation.  If you have any questions, Travel Guard professional, expert agents are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   Call us, if you have not received your quote within 3 days.

Just returned home after a WONDERFUL Rockin', Romantic Rhine Cruise with STI. It was a very different experience from a large cruise ship, as it had about 140 passengers. I got to meet many people from STI and others from outside the group. Terrific experience! Each day, we had excursions, included in the tour. We really got to see the cities where we stopped. The local color was amazing. It was quite an experience to see castles, windows, Gutenberg Bibles up close and personal. Plenty of time to shop or just walk around.  The food was wonderful. With breakfast, we could have sparkling wine or mimosas. With dinner, the wine and beer were flowing freely. My favorite two optional excursions were a German Dinner (not to miss) and a trip to a functioning windmill, where we went right inside to see how it works. While cruising, we experienced going thru canal locks. In the mid portion of the Rhine, we saw castle after castle and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards. I highly recommend this trip. Heaven for photography. It is an experience of a lifetime!

The Rockin Rhine River Cruise was one of the best vacations I have ever had. Our group kept things lively and there was always someone that was around to do things like shopping or tours....or just to sit around in a Biergarten and relax with a glass of local wine or beer.
