Main Tour Package

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

The smallest island in the world, shared by two countries, St. Maarten is big on duty-free shopping! Philipsburg is the perfect place to purchase high-end fashion, tobacco products, jewelry and leather goods. Stop in one of the beachfront bars along the boardwalk, and sample one of their famous flavored rum cocktails or admire the ruins of 17th-century Fort Amsterdam. The Dutch capital city will charm with its cobblestone streets and colonial-style buildings or, if preferred, venture to the French side of the island and stroll through Marigot Market or indulge in French cuisine at a local, Parisian-style café.

Road Bay, Anguilla

Anguilla is a long flat island named, by Columbus, for its multitude of white sand coves that looked like an undulating eel. The island’s small upscale resorts are an ideal retreat to get away from it all. Try the haute cuisine at Malliouhana, or the Arabian Nights ambience of Pimms. Relax on the beautiful white sand beaches and enjoy the calm waters or wander through one of the art galleries or the Wallblake House Museum.

Gorda Sound – Virgin Gorda, B.V.I

Virgin Gorda is best known for the baths, unique water grottos formed eons ago by ancient lava flows. The huge boulders lie scattered around the natural pools, creating a perfect setting for swimming. After a soak in the baths, trek up to Gorda Peak and take in the gorgeous view of the surrounding islands, from the lookout tower. Virgin Gorda is also home to Little Dix Bay, the Bitter End Yacht Club, some excellent beaches, and the best sailing around.

Sopers Hole – Tortola, B.V.I

The pretty harbor, with its brightly colored shops and restaurants, is where ‘laid back’ is a jealously cultivated way of life. Visit the nearby ruins of 17th century Dutch Fort Recovery or relax at one of the several favorite ‘watering holes’, beloved by crews of visiting yachts, and where the local gossip flows as freely as the rum.

White Bay – Jost Van Dyke, B.V.I

Once the hideaway for a Dutch pirate of the same name, Jost van Dyke welcomes visitors with first-rate hiking trails and some of the best unspoiled beaches in the British Virgin Islands. Be sure to have a drink at the famous Foxy’s Tamarind Bar in Great harbor or one of the many beach bars that line White Bay. Kenny Chesney even filmed his famous “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem” recording here and references the quaint island in other songs.

St. Kitts

Known for its rain forested mountains and stunning beaches, St. Kitts’ was the first successful colony in the British West Indies. Shop in colorful Basseterre, play golf, tour old plantation houses or just take a walk around and admire the unique Georgian buildings.  Visit Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park and stroll along the old British fort and be sure to take lots of photos of the surrounding scenery. Our more adventurous members should embark on one of the many trails through the rain forest!

Gustavia, St. Barts

In its elegant little capital of Gustavia, French joie de vivre is tempered by Swedish spic and span neatness. The beauty of the lush tropical landscape and red-roofed buildings will leave us breathless! Take advantage of duty-free shopping in exquisite boutiques, lovely beaches and excellent dining.

What is there to do on board?

As little or as much as you wish. This is your home away from home for the week, so you may sunbathe, jump off and swim or float, kayak, read, socialize, party, dance, lead, follow, participate in group games, steer the ship, enjoy sailing related classes, sleep on deck under the stars, play board games, exercise, or just sit and take in the beauty of the ship, listen to the wind in the rigging and the waves lapping against the hull. You are the master of your day! This is not a “if it’s 1 p.m., there’s bingo in the Lido” kind of an experience. Come prepared to be interesting and interested.

Are there water sports included?

STI provides for a complimentary watersports program – water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sunfish sailing and snorkeling.

No refund will be given to the guest who cancels, regardless of cruise or tour company policy as stated above. Be onboard the Star Flyer by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29 for the welcome aboard party. Members participating in our St. Maarten package will be transferred to the ship in time to check in and enjoy the party.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by STI.

Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre and post trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional. Singles Travel International is a licensed ticketing agency and oftentimes has low negotiated fares.

If you plan to arrange your own flights, we recommend arriving into Philipsburg, St. Maarten (SXM) on February 29 prior to 3:00 p.m. and departing from Philipsburg, St. Maarten (SXM), after 12:00 noon on March 7, 2020.

If you plan to come in early for our pre cruise package, you can arrive at any time on February 28.

On February 29, all passengers MUST be aboard no later than 9:00 p.m.

STI offers round-trip group transportation on cruise dates, for $29 each way, which may be purchased on our Price and Options tab.

Transportation is available for flights arriving up until 3:00 p.m. on February 29. Reserve your return flight to depart after 12:00 p.m. on March 7. Note that the welcome aboard party begins at 6 p.m. on February 29, so best to arrive in time to clear customs and get to the ship.

Please provide your flight schedule to us no later than 30 days prior to departure so that transfers may be arranged.

Taxis cost approximately $30 USD each way from the airport to the Port in St. Maarten, or to the hotel. ALWAYS CONFIRM THE PRICE WITH YOUR TAXI DRIVER BEFORE BEGINNING THE TRIP.

Boarding is from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and all members MUST be aboard by 9 p.m.

Port Location: Philipsburg
Port Name: Port St. Maarten
Address: Juancho Yrausquin Blvd, Sint Maarten

Port Agent: Pioneer Shipping
Port Agent Phone: +1 721 520 0555

Our cruise does not include airfare, transfers, extra hotel nights before and after the cruise and shore excursions. You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in STI events), meals not indicated in itinerary, incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, gratuities to STI staff ($15 per day) and Star Clipper crew members. The approximate gratuity is $11 USD per day which is pooled by the entire crew.

Aboard the Star Flyer, you’ll set up an on-board account with a credit card to charge onboard purchases such as bar tab and shore excursions to your cabin. The currently onboard Star Clippers is the Euro. Your onboard account is billed in Euros and those charges are made by a European bank. Therefore your credit card company may assess fees to convert your charges from Euro to USD.  We recommend that you bring a “no fee” credit card for international transactions.  Many banks offer this option. Your final bill may be paid with cash (USD or Euros), travelers’ check or credit card (Discover not accepted).

The currency used throughout most of our cruise is the US Dollar. The EC (Eastern Caribbean) Dollar is used in St. Kitt’s and Anguilla and the Euro is used in St. Barts. Your credit card will be accepted to settle your bill onboard the ship, as well as in major shops and restaurants ashore.

Prepare by verifying with your credit card company whether or not they have an international conversion fee. Some allow charges with no fee, others charge up to 3% per transaction.

We generally recommend $300-$500 to members based on their lifestyles. Most charges such as cocktails, excursions and and tips for the crew are able to be placed on your shipboard account and charged to your credit card. Allow for shopping in port and any off ship dining.

Yes and be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your departure. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or visit there website. We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your passport.

Currently, a Visa is not required for US Citizens with a valid US passport.

Visas may be required for non US citizens and it is every member’s responsibility to obtain the proper documentation prior to departure from the US.

Never pack your passport or other important documentation in your checked luggage!

Absolutely!  Our site is so popular that we guarantee to find a roommate for you or the single cabin is on us! Guarantees are based on the lowest priced category. Upgrades are charged the full single rate less the lowest share credit if no equal match is found. In order to take advantage of our offer, you must be paid in full by November 1, 2019.

Of course, single cabins are available at an additional 50%, assessed by Star Clippers. Even after the cut-off date, we get so many calls that finding a roommate is easy. So please let us know if you are interested when making your booking.

Our guarantee is based on the lowest, inside cabin share rate. If you opt for a higher category and we are unable to match in that category, you are responsible for the difference to move a member into your cabin to make a match. You may also opt to take your own cabin at that time for the single cabin rate. Assessments are made at final payment date, 120 days prior to departure.

Roommate matches are based on the same sex, general age range and smoking preference whenever possible, but not guaranteed. STI reserves the right to make any match up until day of cruising, including roommate changes once onboard for members who select the Share & Save option.

We highly recommend that our guests contact their roommates in advance. Booked members have access to our private online chat. Meet your roommate as well as the other members on your vacation. Singles Travel International makes every effort to accommodate requests, but does not guarantee the satisfaction or success of a roommate match. It’s the responsibility of the guest to contact his/her roommate and ask the appropriate questions.

Optional pre and post cruise/tour stays are not eligible for the guarantee. Chances are excellent that we’ll find you a match, but if no match found by 30 days prior to departure, member pays the single supplement.

Read more about Roommate Matching on our Frequently Asked Questions found at the Help Center.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Star Flyer offers spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space. In fact, you’ll find that this ship offers more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.

The décor of Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.

All Star Clippers ships feature open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, our convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers’ hospitable officers and crew.

Each cabin is an ensuite upon itself with your own private bathroom. While cabins vary in size, location and price, all include many important comforts:

– Private Shower with ample, fresh, hot water*
– Private Bathroom Facilities with full size toilet*
– 110-volt U.S. current for electric devices
– Sufficient wardrobe space including under bed storage for luggage and lots of hooks to hang clothing and towels.

– Television, DVD player, phone, thermostat control, private safe, hair dryer
– 110 volt/American outlets.

Public Space Includes:

– Air Conditioned Dining Room with Sea Views from Every Table

– Observation Lounge
– Piano Bar
– Tropical Bar

No! Just relax and laze about and leave the sailing to Star Flyer’s professional crew. But if you wish to learn the ropes, the crew is more than happy to have you help hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel and even enjoy classes on knot tying, the stars, or navigation.

Climb the mast (with safety harness provided) to one of the passenger lookout crows-nests and get the most spectacular view ever!

Yes! A Complimentary Watersports Program Includes Water-skiing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Sunfish Sailing and Snorkeling. Equipment is provided by the cruise line on a first come, first served basis.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports.

Scuba diving is offered to Certified Divers with a valid Padi or SSA dive card. A full program will be presented once onboard.  Due to varied itineraries and weather related changes, guaranteed dive locations and a schedule are not available in advance.

Most of the day is spent in port exploring the ports of call. Excursions and activities vary from port to port. Hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, island tours, beach BBQ’s, sunbathing on pristine beaches, hikes, and so much more. Most landings will be dry.

Excursion prices are subject to change at any time but generally cost $50 and up. STI will provide a sneak peak before you depart. All options are purchased onboard, not in advance, and billed directly to your shipboard account.

Yes. Coffee, tea and juices are available at all meals on a complimentary basis.

Singles Travel International has also included a Welcome Aboard Ice Breaker Party with Complimentary Open Bar and Sumptuous Hors d’oeuvres (on our second or 3rd night on the cruise) as well as a Complimentary Glass of Wine with Dinner Every Night!

Smoking is permitted in designated areas at the Tropical Bar and on Sun Deck. Candles, matches and lighters may never be used in your cabin.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 24 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day.

Our first evening begins with a private, welcome aboard cocktail party followed by daily activities both onboard the ship as well as in each port. We dine together each evening in an open seating arrangement so that you have a chance to meet as many people as possible.

As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages. Our vacations are specifically designed for Baby Boomers and active travelers with an average age range of 50-70. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline.

We recommend that you meet the members of the STI Community online where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

We encourage our members to complete their personal profiles including a photo. Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

The average daytime temperature for all the islands is 85-90 and evenings average 75-80 degrees.

While the water in the Caribbean is, typically, safe to consume; there is always a chance of getting sick. If you have a sensitive stomach, we would recommend that you stick to bottled beverages only, while ashore. It never hurts to play it safe!

Seasickness is seldom a problem on large sailing vessels. The wind in the sails prevents much of the rolling motion that may cause sea sickness. If you are prone to motion sickness or have experienced seasickness in the past, consult your doctor for a patch, an appropriate medication or natural remedies. Make sure to take your medication prior to sailing or feeling ill, or it may not be effective.

STI notes that ginger used as an ingredient in many of the local dishes was a plus for keeping us from getting an upset stomach.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check two bags, weighing 50 pounds each, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Note: Pack light! We recommend a soft sided or duffel type bag due to limited space in your cabin. There are no safes in the cabins nor locks on the doors (except from inside), so leave those valuables at home.

This week is super relaxed, no formalities! Don’t forget a light jacket or sweatshirt for night breezes when star gazing. If you plan on hiking don’t forget a pair of sneakers or hiking boots, otherwise, bare feet and sandals are all you’ll need. The sun is stronger down in the islands, so make sure you use a stronger sunscreen than you’d use at home. If you must doll up and need to have your hairdryer and curling iron, electricity onboard is standard US 110 volts. Also bring, your contract of passage/Confirmation from STI, passport and picture ID. Don’t forget your pirate attire for our Farewell Party!

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable, including prescription medications and travel documents. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

My Packing List: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– An open minded attitude and a ready smile!
– Soft sided duffle bag for easy storage and easy access (may be stored under your bed).
– Light jacket or long sleeve shirt for evenings on deck star gazing.
– Tevas or deck shoes for onboard (or barefoot).
– A pair of sneakers or hiking boots
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor. Sun is much stronger on the water than on land, even when temps are cooler.
– A pair of binoculars.
– Light rain gear.
– Air freshener.
– Bug spray and Benadryl cream.
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials and a toiletry bag with hook for hanging.
– Drinking Swag (based on your personal needs): Temps are hot and humid and all drinks sweat, keep em cool or hot with a Travel Coffee Cup with lid, Travel water bottle, Beer Coozie, Turvis (insulted) glass, small collapsible cooler.
– Beach towel if desired, not necessary. Pareo wrap for ladies.
– Be the life of the party! Bring glow in the dark party favors.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!

– Power strip for all your gadgets – most cabins have only one outlet.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Small, Swiss Army type utility knife. Remember to pack this in your checked luggage!
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book (iphone/smart phone) for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of batteries and extra memory chips.

You may be able to use your own phone plan if you add an international calling package before you depart, generally .99-1.99 per minute (check before departure). Data packages are also a great idea to add to your plan if you wish to stay connected on social media. STI was able to get 120G for $30 with AT&T. Well worth it!

There are direct dial phones in each cabin aboard the SVP Star Flyer, but charges are generally $10 per minute. Internet cafes are available in some ports, not all.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In an emergency after hours, please have your family contact Tammy Weiler at 815-715-6998.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

What Our Members Are Saying

I had a wonderful time sailing on the recent Singles Sailing Adventure! It was awesome to hear Amazing Grace played every day when the sails were hoisted as we set sail for another port destination. The food was excellent. There was plenty of opportunity for scuba, snorkel, or just touring the islands. Thank you so much for the great adventure.

I had more fun than I could imagine on the Windward island clipper ship cruise and can’t wait to run into everyone again sometime in the not-so-distant future on another STI trip. I loved it so much I’m already booked for next year! Lisa M. ~ Highland Beach, FL
