Day-to-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Wednesday, July 11
Arrive in Denpasar International airport and after immigration, you will be met by our guide for transfer to our luxurious home for 3 nights, Check-in at the Nusa Dua and rest of the day/evening is at leisure. If you plan to do spa treatments, now is the time to make your appointments. Bali has the best massages in the world!
Evening: Meet your fellow adventurers at an informal get together at our hotel this evening. Many flights arrive late so tonight we’ll likely be ready for some rest before so that we enjoy our time in Bali.
Day 2: Thursday, July 12
Ubud Tampaksiring Volcano
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at our hotel before we depart on our full day tour with lunch.
8:00 a.m. Today we’ll start the day early so we’re able to fit al the wonderful site into our day. First, an exploration of Ubud Palace, home of the Ubud Royal family, with beautiful Balinese traditional houses. Originally founded by Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel, who ruled from 1800 – 1823, it is set in the centre of Ubud. After the palace we’ll cross the road to visit the renowned Ubud market. This market forms the economic centre of Ubud and has been featured in numerous films, while remaining critically important to the local community.
Then visit the Holy spring Temple, which the locals call Tampak Siring, regarded as a purification Temple. The temple and its two bathing pools have been used by the Balinese for over a thousand years in order to promote good health and prosperity, as the spring water is said to have the power to cure all sorts of ailments from physical conditions to black magic spells. To this day, the Balinese people carry out regular purification ceremonies here.
Proceed to the village of Kintamani, the best spot – weather permitting – for views of Mount Batur, an active volcano sitting alongside Lake Batur. Scanning the horizon from left to right, we will observe that Kintamani sits on the caldera rim of a majestic volcano, and Mount Batur, directly in front of us, is merely a ‘small’ mountain that has been created by thousands of years of volcanic activity. Enjoy a buffet lunch served at a local restaurant overlooking the volcano while we wonder about the mighty forces of Mother Nature that created this natural scene. Then on the way to our hotel, we’ll pass Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave) at Bedulu, and be amazed by this ancient holy sight – a former hermitage for Buddhist monks, who used to meditate in small rooms deep inside the cave.
4:30 p.m. (approximately) Back at our hotel we’ll have time to kick back and relax, get a massage or grab a drink or 2 with new friends. Our STI Concierge will have ideas for dinner in the Nusa Dua Beach area.
Day 3: Friday, July 13
Balinese Culinary Experience and A Day with Balinese
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at our hotel before we depart on our full day tour with lunch.
8:00 a.m. Our day begins with an early morning visit to the local market, where ingredients for today class are purchased, including spices, meat, seafood, vegetables and other thing that we need. See the locals going about their everyday routines in the market, which is all over by 8am. Experience Balinese warm greetings in the traditional way of life before entering a Balinese compound where we will be offered tea, coffee, and typical Balinese traditional cakes as refreshment. The process to make coconut oil will be shown after we have a look around the compound.
We’ll also have a chance to watch the local’s activities such as:
Ironing smith and how Balinese people produce their traditional tools, a Balinese hat maker and how Balinese people produce wine “tuak”, Finally, we’ll witness mat weaving made of pandanus tectorius leaves, flowers and fruits arrangement a part of the Balinese way of life that has been inherited from generation to generation for centuries.
We are welcomed to practice our climbing skill by climbing a coconut tree to get the coconut fruits for our refreshing beverage after our hands on with traditional tools to plant rice! An amazing experience that we’ll not soon forget. After the variety activities, it’s time for our coking class. We head to our cooking school and invited to enjoy a fresh coconut before heading into the open air kitchen for the class.
This afternoon, we’ll discover the unique flavors of Balinese cuisine. Our Cooking Class offers a fascinating introduction to the exotic ingredients and unique culture of Balinese food. Gain a valuable insight into the techniques of preparation and cooking which are used on a daily basis in homes all over the island.
4:00 p.m. (approximately) Upon return to our hotel, time to relax or get a massage, then meet for dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 4: Friday, July 14

As little or as much as you wish. You are the master of your day! This is not a “if it’s 1 p.m., there’s bingo in the Lido” kind of an experience. Come prepared to be interesting and interested.
Are there water sports included?
STI provides for a complimentary water-sports program – water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sunfish sailing and snorkeling. Scuba divers, bring your dive cards! We’ll have an opportunity to dive some of the best reefs in the world.

We urge you to verify baggage restrictions with all your air carriers in advance. Small carriers in may charge greater fees and if you over pack, you may end up paying a hefty bill or have your bags left behind. The attire for this cruise is casual, dinner is smart casual (no tanks, t-shirts, shorts) and there is a Captain’s dinner which is upscale casual
The currency in Bali is the Rupiah. As of publication, a U.S. dollar is worth just over 10,000 rupiahs.
Rupiahs are available at banks and currency exchange centers in the United States (higher rates of exchange) and upon arrival in Bali. We recommend that you bring cash (USD, Euros, Canadian) with you, exchange a small amount at the airport to pay for your taxi and to get you started. You’ll then be able to source a reliable money changer close to your accommodation.
An assortment of low denomination bills and coins are a “must” when exploring Bali, as cash is used for most transactions and businesses and cab drivers often expect the customer to provide exact change.
In addition to cash, bring along a no fee credit card for the best experience.
ATMs also are available to withdraw rupiahs from a bank account, though the amount of rupiahs issued varies by machine and an international withdraw fee and transaction fees are charged on most ATM transactions, notes the Frommer’s travel website.
Credit cards are accepted at most high-end hotels, restaurants, stores and nightclubs, with Visa and MasterCard being the most commonly accepted cards. For more info on currency in Bali click here.
Currency aboard the Star Clipper is the Euro. For up to date exchange rates, visit www.xe.com. Your credit card will be accepted to settle your bill onboard the Star Flyer, as well as in major shops and restaurants ashore. All onboard purchases are billed with a guest check and added to your personal shipboard account. At the end of the cruise, you will receive a total bill, that may be paid with cash or charged to a credit card. If you are sharing with another guest, no worries. You will each receive a separate statement.
Prepare by verifying with your credit card company whether or not they have an international conversion fee. Some allow charges with no fee, others charge up to 3% per transaction.
We generally recommend $300-$500 to members based on their lifestyles. Most charges such as cocktails, excursions and and tips for the crew are able to be placed on your shipboard account and charged to your credit card. Allow for shopping in port and any off ship dining.
Massages are the best in Bali and very inexpensive so don’t miss out on one of the highlights here. Cash is the only way to pay unless you are at a high end hotel and massage rates to match.
Yes, passports are required and be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your departure. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or click here to visit their website. We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your passport.

Visas may be required for non US citizens and it is every member’s responsibility to obtain the proper documentation prior to departure from the US.

Inoculations are not mandatory, however, STI recommends that you check with your own doctor to determine your risk factors before traveling to Indonesia.

Our site is so popular that we guarantee to find a roommate for you or the single cabin is on us! Guarantees are based on the lowest priced category. Upgrades are charged the full single rate less the lowest share credit if no equal match is found. In order to take advantage of our offer, you must be paid in full by April 13, 2018. Even after the cut-off date, we get so many calls that finding a roommate is easy. So please let us know if you are interested when making your booking.
Single cabins are also available at an additional rate assessed by Star Clipper.
Our guarantee is based on the lowest, inside cabin share rate. If you opt for a higher category and we are unable to match in that category, you are responsible for the difference to move a member into your cabin to make a match. You may also opt to take your own cabin at that time for the single cabin rate. Assessments are made at final payment date, 90 days prior to departure.
Roommate matches are based on the same sex, general age range and smoking preference whenever possible, but not guaranteed. STI reserves the right to make any match up until day of cruising, including roommate changes once onboard for members who select the Share & Save option.
We highly recommend that our guests contact their roommates in advance. Booked members have access to our private online chat. Meet your roommate as well as the other members on your vacation. Singles Travel International makes every effort to accommodate requests, but does not guarantee the satisfaction or success of a roommate match. It’s the responsibility of the guest to contact his/her roommate and ask the appropriate questions.
Optional pre and post cruise/tour stays are not eligible for the guarantee. Chances are excellent that we’ll find you a match, but if no match found by 30 days prior to departure, member pays the single supplement.
Read more about Roommate Matching on our Frequently Asked Questions found at the Help Center.
Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

No! Just relax and laze about and leave the sailing to Star Clipper’s professional crew. But if you wish to learn the ropes, the crew is more than happy to have you help hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel and even enjoy classes on knot tying, the stars, or navigation.
As little or as much as you wish. This is your home away from home for the week, so you may sunbathe, jump off and swim or float, kayak, read, socialize, party, dance, lead, follow, participate in group games, steer the ship, enjoy sailing related classes, sleep on deck under the stars, play board games, exercise, or just sit and take in the beauty of the ship, listen to the wind in the rigging and the waves lapping against the hull. Yes! A Complimentary Watersports Program may Include Water-skiing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Sunfish Sailing and Snorkeling based on country regulations. Based on the ports for this cruise, the snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking will be the main water sports.
Most of the day is spent in port exploring the ports of call. Excursions and activities vary from port to port and this itinerary is a scuba divers delight. Bring your dive certificate and you’ll be ready to go. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, island tours, beach BBQ’s, sunbathing on pristine beaches, encounters with Kimono Dragon’s and more. Most landings will be dry, but some may be wet, and tenders are used in many ports.
Excursion prices are subject to change at any time but generally cost $50 and up. STI will provide a sneak peak before you depart. All options are purchased onboard, not in advance, and billed directly to your shipboard account.
Yes. Coffee, tea and juices are available at all meals on a complimentary basis.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 24 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day.
From the moment you board the ship, our STI Concierge is waiting to meet you at our Hospitality Desk or Welcome Event. Our first evening begins with a private, welcome aboard cocktail party followed by daily activities both onboard the ship as well as in each port. We dine together each evening in an open seating arrangement so that you have a chance to meet as many people as possible.
Our “All Ages” vacations cater to 45+ and our average age range is 46 to 66. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline and STI does not guarantee ages and ratios. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee the ages or ratios.
Along with the most sun throughout the year, July also sees the least amount of rainfall after the month of August. This month is the peak of the “dry season” in Bali and the Nusa Tenggara islands (Lombok, Komodo and the Gilis). July is a great time to enjoy the beaches and go swimming, as the average sea temperature this month is 27°C (81°F).
The average temperature for the month of July is 27°C (80°F), the average low is 22°C (80°F), and the average high is 31°C (88°F).
Seasickness is seldom a problem on large sailing vessels. The wind in the sails prevents much of the rolling motion that may cause sea sickness. If you are prone to motion sickness or have experienced seasickness in the past, consult your doctor for a patch, an appropriate medication or natural remedies. Make sure to take your medication prior to sailing or feeling ill, or it may not be effective.
STI notes that ginger is an age old remedy and we recommend binging some ginger candies or dried ginger if you have access to it.
Pack lightly! We recommend 1 small to medium bag, soft sided or duffel type bag due to limited space in your cabin, especially when sharing with another member.
Currently, most airlines will allow you to check one bag, weighing 50 pounds, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.
Bali lies 3.2 km (2 mi) east of Java, and is approximately 8 degrees south of the equator. Think warm weather attire, hats, sun glasses and sun screen.
This week is super relaxed. Dress code on our cruise is casual so you won’t need fancy gowns, tuxedos or a pair of shoes for every evening!
Don’t forget a light jacket or sweatshirt for night breezes when star gazing. If you plan on hiking don’t forget a pair of sneakers or hiking boots, otherwise, bare feet and sandals are all you’ll need. The sun is stronger due to our proximity to the Equator, so make sure you use a stronger sunscreen than you’d use at home. If you must doll up and need to have your hairdryer and curling iron, electricity onboard is standard US 110 volts. Also bring, your contract of passage/Confirmation from STI, passport and picture ID.
Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable, including prescription medications and travel documents. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.
My Packing List: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.
– An open minded attitude and a ready smile!
– Soft sided duffle bag for easy storage and easy access (may be stored under your bed).
– Light jacket or long sleeve shirt for evenings on deck star gazing.
– Tevas or deck shoes for onboard (or barefoot).
– A pair of sneakers or hiking boots
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor. Sun is much stronger on the water than on land, even when temps are cooler.
– A pair of binoculars.
– Air freshener.
– Bug spray and Benadryl cream.
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials and a toiletry bag with hook for hanging.
– Drinking Swag (based on your personal needs): Temps are hot and humid and all drinks sweat, keep em cool or hot with a Travel Coffee Cup with lid, Travel water bottle, Beer Coozie, Turvis (insulted) glass, small collapsible cooler.
– Beach towel if desired, not necessary. Pareo wrap for ladies (we’ll get them in Bali).
– Be the life of the party! Being glow in the dark party favors.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, Neosporin or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Power strip for all your gadgets – most cabins have only one outlet.
-Electrical Adaptor & Converter for Europe
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Small, Swiss Army type utility knife. Remember to pack this in your checked luggage!
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book (iphone/smart phone) for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of film and extra batteries. If you are bringing a digital camera, you should bring extra memory chips.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.
On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website. Click here to learn more.

Who's Going?
Meet Your STI Concierge
Vicki
Hi! My name is Vicki, and I am so happy to have joined the STI family as a Concierge! After having a career as a health-and-fitness writer and then having children, I decided to make a career change in order to pursue my love for travel. For 9 years now, I have designed small-group tours all over Europe and have led tours in Italy, Malta and Croatia. From the moment I began leading tours, being able to share wonderful experiences and make people smile through discovering a new location - or perhaps through discovering something about themselves - I felt as if I had found exactly what I was meant to do! I look forward to making your vacation dreams come true.
