What is our STI Signature Experience?

With our private local guide, we’ll depart Calvi in the morning of Oct. 6 and head to the farmlands of Balagna. Along our drive, we’ll see olive groves and grapevines, which have been cultivated here since antiquity. Our first stop will be a family-run dairy farm that produces casgiu frescu and passu cheeses. The husband-and-wife team have more than 1,000 sheep and goats, and they have honed the time-honored tradition of Corsican cheese-making. We’ll enjoy a private tour of the farm as well as a tasting of the couple’s products.

We’ll then continue on the “Route des Artisans de Balagne,” to discover ancestral trades: cutler, beekeepers, violin maker, ceramist, etc… and cross Corbara, Pigan and Argeno, the oldest villages of Balagna.  We will walk along its beautiful houses, long it’s streets and alleys, and  pass under its vaulted passages to discover the typicality of a Balanin village before returning to Calvi.

Where will we go on our cruise?

Cannes, France

Glittering Cannes is the archetypal Mediterranean resort city discovered by wealthy English nobles who came to the sunny south of France to escape their drafty old castles during the dreary British winters. Cannes’ high flying lifestyle has attracted notables and the notorious ever since. Every year, the stars flock to celebrate the Cannes Film Festival at the colossal Palais des Festivals.

Portofino, Italy

Portofino is a fishing village on the Italian Riviera coastline. Its pastel-coloured houses, luxury boutiques and seafood restaurants surround its Piazzetta, a small cobbled square overlooking the harbor, which is lined with super-yachts. A short walk takes you up to the Church of St. George, a church with a cool, plain interior, dramatically situated on the narrow neck of the Portofino headland. As a lookout point, and probably as a site of religious significance, the spot goes back thousands of years.

Propriano (Corsica), France

The coastal town of Propriano is found on the south west coast of Corsica about halfway between the major towns of Ajaccio and Bonifacio. The harbour contains a fascinating combination of exclusive yachts and more modest fishing boats and is worth a visit to get some of the best views of the town. The town center has plenty of luxury shops, cafes and bars to enjoy.

Stintino (Sardinia), Italy

Stintino is a small village on the northwest coast of Sardinia. Despite the influx of tourists to the island, the area has remained peaceful and enjoys a very traditional way of life. The beaches here are considered to be some of the best in Sardinia with powder-white sand overlooking beautiful crystal clear turquoise seas.

Calvi (Corsica), France

Napoleon once said that he could recognize his native island blindfolded because of the wonderful perfume of the maquis. Approaching by sea, it is the first thing you experience about Corsica. The second is its wild and mountainous landscape. Nearby are secluded beaches and the eerie Grottes des Veaux Marins, offering fantastic diving opportunities.

Bandol, France

Bandol is a calm little seaside resort in a sheltered bay surrounded by hills that protect it from the wind. It has three sandy beaches and a yachting harbour as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. The seafront promenade is shaded by pine and palm trees and an abundance of mimosa. Every morning there is a market in the center of town.

St. Tropez, France (Beach stop and Town)

It is said that the most spectacular way to approach the exquisite harbor of St. Tropez is by sea. St. Tropez is a people-watcher’s paradise, so you will also want to explore the famous beaches, bistros and bars. The appropriately named Tahiti Plage is where topless sun tanning started, and whether you prefer to take it off or take it all in, there’s always plenty to see in St. Tropez.

Part of the adventure of a “working” vessel is that change is a given.  Depending on weather and other daily circumstances, the crew may be obliged to make changes to the program.  Therefore the times for each day are subject to change. The change may be to maintain a safe environment or improve the experience.  Please maintain a flexible attitude throughout your cruise.

Be sure to read our FAQ tab for even more details.

Itinerary is subject to change at the discretion of Royal Clipper without compensation. Singles Travel International is not responsible for the consequences of any changes.

*After August 31, 2021, any cancellations or “no-shows” – 100% penalty.

Air packages and air tickets are subject to cancellation policies imposed by the airlines.

Note that if you elect to take a roommate and he/she cancels after our cut off date, we will do everything to find a new match. However, if no match is found, the difference in cost for a single cabin/room is the responsibility of the guest who cancels. No refund will be given to the guest who cancels, regardless of cruise or tour company policy as stated above. Singles Travel International is not responsible for costs related to cancellations after our cut off date.

Arrive at any time on October 1, 2021 and transfer to the hotel. All members will be transferred to the ship in time to check in and enjoy the Welcome-aboard party at 4:00 PM on October 2.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by STI.

Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre- and post-trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional. Singles Travel International is a licensed ticketing agency and oftentimes has low negotiated fares.

If you plan to arrange your own flights, we recommend flying in to Nice (NCE), France, at any time, on October 1 and depart after 2:00 PM, from Nice (NCE), France, on October 9. Please note, transportation to Cannes will take around 30-50 minutes.

If you plan to come in early for our Extra Night in Cannes package, you may also arrive at any time on Sept. 30.

Most visitors to Cannes France arrive at the Nice International Airport. Transportation to the hotel is not included. The most convenient and least expensive route is via the Nice Airport Express bus for 22 Euros each way (subject to change at any time). It is easy to purchase a ticket after you exit the airport, about 300 yards to the right of the taxi stand. Click Here for more information.

In case of a language barrier, we recommend having the hotel name and address written down to show your driver.  Our hotel is a 10 minute taxi ride from the bus stop.

STI offers a convenient pick up from the pier in Cannes to the Nice Airport on October 9. See the “Book Now” page to add to your purchase.

Note that on the day of disembarkation, all members must be off no later than 10:00 a.m. The earliest tender departs at approximately 8-8:30 a.m. Allow 1 hour for any transfer, and check in for Nice is 2 hours prior to departure. We recommend that you book a return flight after 2:00 p.m. on departure day for a leisurely breakfast on the last morning and transfer to Nice in time for your flight.

Our cruise does not include airfare, transfers, extra hotel nights before and after the cruise and shore excursions. You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in STI events), meals not indicated in itinerary, incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, gratuities to STI staff ($15 per day) and Star Clipper crew members. The approximate gratuity is $11 USD per day which is pooled by the entire Star Clipper crew.

Aboard the Royal Clipper, you’ll set up an on-board account with a credit card to charge onboard purchases such as bar tab and shore excursions to your cabin. The currency onboard Star Clippers is the Euro. Your onboard account is billed in Euros and charges are made by a European bank.  Therefore your credit card company may assess fees to convert your charges from Euro to USD.  We recommend that you bring a “no fee” credit card for international transactions.  Many banks offer this option. Your final bill may be paid with cash (USD or Euros), travelers’ check or credit card (Discover not accepted).

The currency used throughout the ports will also be the Euro. The exchange rate for the Euro fluctuates often. You may find the current exchange rates in the financial sections of newspapers and on the Internet. You may also find a number of websites by typing “foreign exchange rates” in your search engine. Click Here for up to date exchange rates.

Currency Exchange: Many locations will accept major credit cards, but for incidentals and small vendors you will need some local currency. ATM machines will dispense local currency for internationally accepted ATM cards and/or credit cards. They are usually conveniently located in large cities, but are limited in smaller towns and rural areas.

You may exchange cash and traveler’s checks for local currencies at hotels, banks and exchange bureaus. Banks offer the best rates, but beware, hours are limited in Italy. They are generally open from 9 a.m.-12 noon and 2-5 p.m.

You may purchase Euros from your local bank in advance or get a small amount on arrival at the airport. There is always an exchange at airports.

We recommend that you bring or retrieve about $300-500 EUR depending on your spending habits for meals and shopping, as well as a debit card for withdrawals and a major credit card, preferably VISA or MC.

Credit Cards: Your credit card will be accepted to settle your incidentals bill at all hotels and in major shops and restaurants.

If you travel a fair amount, you may want to check with your bank and see if they can provide you with a debit card that doesn’t incur charges when used abroad.

We generally recommend $300-$500 (or that equivalent in Euros) to members based on their lifestyles. Most charges such as cocktails, excursions and and tips for the crew are able to be placed on your shipboard account and charged to your credit card. Allow for shopping in port and any off-ship dining.

Yes and be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your return date. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or Click Here. We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your passport.

Visas may be required for non US citizens and it is every member’s responsibility to obtain the proper documentation prior to departure from the US.

Never pack your passport or other important documentation in your checked luggage!

Absolutely!  Our site is so popular that we guarantee to find a roommate for you or the single cabin is on us! Guarantees are based on the lowest priced category. Upgrades are charged the full single rate less the lowest share credit if no equal match is found. In order to take advantage of our offer, you must be paid in full by June 3, 2021.

Of course, single cabins are available at an additional cost, assessed by Star Clipper. Even after the cut-off date, we get so many calls that finding a roommate is easy. So please let us know if you are interested when making your booking.

Our guarantee is based on the lowest, inside cabin share rate. If you opt for a higher category and we are unable to match in that category, you are responsible for the difference to move a member into your cabin to make a match. You may also opt to take your own cabin at that time for the single cabin rate. Assessments are made at final payment date, 120 days prior to departure.

Roommate matches are based on the same sex, general age range and smoking preference whenever possible, but not guaranteed. STI reserves the right to make any match up until day of cruising, including roommate changes once onboard for members who select the Share & Save option.

We highly recommend that our guests contact their roommates in advance. Booked members have access to our private online chat. Meet your roommate as well as the other members on your vacation. Singles Travel International makes every effort to accommodate requests, but does not guarantee the satisfaction or success of a roommate match. It’s the responsibility of the guest to contact his/her roommate and ask the appropriate questions.

Optional pre and post cruise/tour stays are not eligible for the guarantee. Chances are excellent that we’ll find you a match, but if no match found by 30 days prior to departure, member pays the single supplement.

Read more about Roommate Matching on our Frequently Asked Questions found at the Help Center.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Inspired by the tall ship Preussen, the Royal Clipper has the proud distinction of being the largest and only five-masted full-rigged sailing ship built since her predecessor was launched at the beginning of the last century. With her complement of 42 sails, Royal Clipper is a splendid sight to behold.

You might think she was an apparition from the grand age of sail, but Royal Clipper is as new as tomorrow, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and every comfort and luxury one could wish for. For connoisseurs of sail cruising, the 439-foot Royal Clipper offers the ultimate sea-going experience, balancing the grandeur, adventure and tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yacht. Royal Clipper carries just 227 guests in luxurious style. A full 19,000 square feet of open deck and two swimming pools create a wonderfully spacious and expansive outdoor environment.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports. And the ultimate unique Royal Clipper experience, the one-of-a-kind Captain Nemo Lounge, is the site of our spa and health club with underwater glass portholes!

Each cabin is an ensuite upon itself with your own private bathroom. While cabins vary in size, location and price, all include many important comforts:

– Private Shower with ample, fresh, hot water*
– Private Bathroom Facilities with full size toilet*
– 110-volt U.S. current for electric devices
– Sufficient wardrobe space including under bed storage for luggage and lots of hooks to hang clothing and towels.
– Daily Steward Service and nightly turn-down service
– Television, DVD player, phone, thermostat control, private safe, hair dryer

Public Space Includes:

– Air Conditioned Dining Room with Sea Views from Every Table
– 2 outdoor swimming pools (dipping)
– Observation Lounge
– Piano Bar
– Tropical Bar
– Library
– Nemo Spa and Fitness Facility

No! Just relax and laze about and leave the sailing to Royal Clipper’s professional crew. But if you wish to learn the ropes, the crew is more than happy to have you help hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel and even enjoy classes on knot tying, the stars, or navigation.

Climb the mast (with safety harness provided) to one of the passenger lookout crows-nests and get the most spectacular view ever!

As little or as much as you wish. This is your home away from home for the week, so you may sunbathe, jump off and swim or float, kayak, read, socialize, party, dance, lead, follow, participate in group games, steer the ship, enjoy sailing related classes, sleep on deck under the stars, play board games, exercise, or just sit and take in the beauty of the ship, listen to the wind in the rigging and the waves lapping against the hull. You are the master of your day! This is not a “if it’s 1 p.m., there’s bingo in the Lido” kind of an experience. Come prepared to be interesting and interested.

Yes! A Complimentary Watersports Program Includes Water-skiing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Sunfish Sailing and Snorkeling. Equipment is provided by the cruise line on a first come, first served basis.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports.

Most of the day is spent in port exploring the ports of call. Excursions and activities vary from port to port. Hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, island tours, beach BBQ’s, sunbathing on pristine beaches, hikes, and so much more. Most landings will be dry.

Excursion prices are subject to change at any time but generally cost $50 and up. STI will provide a sneak peak before you depart. All options are purchased onboard, not in advance, and billed directly to your shipboard account.

Yes. Coffee, tea and juices are available at all meals on a complimentary basis.

Singles Travel International has also included a Private Singles-Only Party with Complimentary Open Bar and Hors d’oeuvres (on our second or 3rd night on the cruise) as well as a Complimentary Glass of Wine with Dinner Every Night!

Smoking is permitted in designated areas at the Tropical Bar and on Sun Deck. Candles, matches and lighters may never be used in your cabin.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 25 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day.

From the moment you board the ship, our STI Concierge is waiting to meet you at our Hospitality Desk or Welcome Event. Our first evening begins with welcome-aboard cocktail party followed by daily activities both onboard the ship as well as in each port. We dine together each evening in an open seating arrangement so that you have a chance to meet as many people as possible.

As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages. Our vacations are specifically designed for Baby Boomers and active travelers with an average age range of 50-70. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline.

We recommend that you meet the members of the STI Community online where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

We encourage our members to complete their personal profiles including a photo. Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

Temperatures in France and Italy will be around 65-75 degrees, during our sailing. Perfect weather for an adventure!

Seasickness is seldom a problem on large sailing vessels. The wind in the sails prevents much of the rolling motion that may cause sea sickness. If you are prone to motion sickness or have experienced seasickness in the past, consult your doctor for a patch, an appropriate medication or natural remedies. Make sure to take your medication prior to sailing or feeling ill, or it may not be effective.

STI notes that ginger used as an ingredient in many of the local dishes was a plus for keeping us from getting an upset stomach.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check 1 bag, weighing up to 50 pounds as well as a carry-on and a personal item such as a purse or briefcase for free. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Note: Pack light! We recommend a soft sided or duffel type bag due to limited space in your cabin. There are no safes in the cabins nor locks on the doors (except from inside), so leave those valuables at home.

This week is super relaxed, no formalities! Don’t forget a light jacket or sweatshirt for night breezes when star gazing. If you plan on hiking don’t forget a pair of sneakers or hiking boots, otherwise, bare feet and sandals are all you’ll need. If you must doll up and need to have your hairdryer and curling iron, electricity onboard is standard US 110 volts. Also bring, your contract of passage/Confirmation from STI, passport and picture ID.

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable, including prescription medications and travel documents. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

My Packing List: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– An open minded attitude and a ready smile!
– Soft sided duffle bag for easy storage and easy access (may be stored under your bed).
– Light jacket or long sleeve shirt for evenings on deck star gazing.
– Tevas or deck shoes for onboard (or barefoot).
– A pair of sneakers or hiking boots
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor. Sun is much stronger on the water than on land, even when temps are cooler.
– A pair of binoculars.
– Light rain gear.
– Bug spray and Benadryl cream.
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials and a toiletry bag with hook for hanging.
– Drinking Swag (based on your personal needs):  keep drinks cool or hot with a Travel Coffee Cup with lid, Travel water bottle, Beer Coozie, Turvis (insulated) glass, small collapsible cooler.
– Beach towel if desired, not necessary. Pareo wrap for ladies.
– Be the life of the party! Being glow in the dark party favors.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, Neosporin or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Power strip for all your gadgets – most cabins have only one outlet.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book (iphone/smart phone) for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of batteries and extra memory chips.

You may be able to use your own phone plan if you add an international calling package before you depart, generally .99-1.99 per minute (check before departure). Data packages are also a great idea to add to your plan if you wish to stay connected on social media. STI was able to get 120G for $30 with AT&T. Well worth it!

There are direct dial phones in each cabin aboard the ship, but charges are generally $10 per minute. Internet cafes are available in some ports, not all.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In an emergency after hours, please have your family contact Tammy Weiler at 815-715-6998.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

What Our Members Are Saying

I had a wonderful time sailing on the recent Singles Sailing Adventure! It was awesome to hear Amazing Grace played every day when the sails were hoisted as we set sail for another port destination. The food was excellent. There was plenty of opportunity for scuba, snorkel, or just touring the islands. Thank you so much for the great adventure.

The Singles Sailing Adventure to Grenada was nothing short of a fairy tale vacation. This was my first singles trip of any kind and when I booked it I was nervous and excited. I flew from Denver to Miami and met some other people taking the trip there. after just talking to them for a few minutes I was more relaxed. After getting on board and meeting everyone i was completely comfortable. The Capitan, crew and all of the passengers were awesome. One of the best trips I have ever take and will take another one soon.
