Sail away on the SVP Royal Clipper and discover the lesser traveled Caribbean!

A hard gust of wind fills the sails as the mighty ship begins heeling to starboard. Bustling crew members scurry about adjusting block and tackle till the windjammer reaches optimum speed. As the pace of the vessel progresses, so does the anticipation of its crews’ quest for treasure. Such must have been the feeling of pirates as they roamed the Caribbean in search of booty. Today, aboard the square-rigged sailing ship Royal Clipper, its not so tyrannical passengers exhibit many of these same feelings, all for their modern day version of treasure. Treasure of today’s kind is not that of golden doubloons, but of escape or freedom from the daily obligations of our fast paced world. Yes, freedom from bosses, in-laws and even the talking heads that bombard us with never ending tripe about our not so perfect society.

Royal Clipper reflects it’s proud heritage in every inch of it’s polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard this unique vessel and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present day. Royal Clipper is a modern cruise ship in every way, created for single pirates at heart, but those who love the the comforts of modern cruising and the traditions of the legendary era of sailing ships.

Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like traveling on a private yacht. You’ll never feel confined on Royal Clipper, with spacious, air conditioned accommodations, expansive teak decks with ample space and not one, but two swimming pools!

The weekly program of entertainment for us to enjoy is as follows. See the list below. Program may vary on site and is at the discretion of the crew. Watch this space for a complete listing of optional excursions.

What is there to do on board?

As little or as much as you wish. This is your home away from home for the week, so you may sunbathe, jump off and swim or float, kayak, read, socialize, party, dance, lead, follow, participate in group games, steer the ship, enjoy sailing related classes, sleep on deck under the stars, play board games, exercise, or just sit and take in the beauty of the ship, listen to the wind in the rigging and the waves lapping against the hull. You are the master of your day! This is not a “if it’s 1 p.m., there’s bingo in the Lido” kind of an experience. Come prepared to be interesting and interested.

Are there water sports included?

STI provides for a complimentary watersports program – water-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, sunfish sailing and snorkeling.

How will we spend our time ashore?

Most of the day is spent in port exploring the Windward Islands of the Caribbean. Excursions and activities vary from island to island. Hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, island tours, beach BBQ’s, sunbathing on pristine beaches, hikes, nature preserves and more.

Be sure to read our FAQ tab for even more details.

The Windward Islands are the southern, generally larger islands of the Lesser Antilles, within the West Indies. They lie south of the Leeward Islands, between latitudes 12° and 16° N and longitudes 60° and 62° W in one definition. As a group they start from Dominica and reach southward to the North of Trinidad & Tobago, just north of South America.

Click on our helpful links to find out more about each island. Our cruise covers several islands located in the heart of the Caribbean archipelago touching on the islands of Martinique, St. Lucia and the Grenadines.

The trip begins in Bridgetown, Barbados on March 18, 2017 and ends in Bridgetown on March 25, 2017. Therefore the trip is 7 nights/8 days.

Stay tuned for STI’s optional pre and post cruise stays in Barbados.

Note that if you elect to take a roommate and he/she cancels after our cut off date, we will do everything to find a new match. However, if no match is found, the difference in cost for a single cabin/room is the responsibility of the guest who cancels. No refund will be given to the guest who cancels, regardless of cruise or tour company policy as stated above. Singles Travel International is not responsible for costs related to cancellations after our cut off date.

Allow 14-21 days for a refund. In the event that you made a deposit more than 60 days from time of cancellation, a company check will be issued in lieu of a credit refund.

Be onboard the Royal Clipper by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 for the welcome aboard party. Members participating in our Barbados package will be transferred to the ship in time to check in and enjoy the party.

Singles Travel International is a vacation event company that plans singles events and markets our events at our expense to create a “singles only” experience. We do not allow guests to join the group unless the reservation has been made by STI. Our policy is firm for tours and cruises, as well as pre and post trip hotel stays. Members and friends that “show up” will not be allowed to participate without paying an equivalent fee to the rest of the group that made the reservation with STI. Your credit card on file will automatically be charged.

In order to accommodate singles from all over the world, our tours and cruises are priced as land/cruise only. Therefore, airfare is additional. Singles Travel International is a licensed ticketing agency and oftentimes has low negotiated fares.

If you plan to arrange your own flights, make sure to arrive in Bridgetown, Barbados by 2:00 p.m. on March 18 and depart after 12:00 p.m. on March 25.

Join STI on one of our optional pre or post cruise packages, coming soon!

We recommend arriving into Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI) on March 18 prior to 2:00 p.m. and departing from Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI), after 12:00 noon on March 25, 2016.

On March 18, all members are requested aboard no later than 4:00 p.m. for a 10:00 p.m. sailing.

STI offers round-trip transportation on cruise dates, for $49 each way, which may be purchased on our Price and Options tab.

Transportation will be provided for flights arriving up until 4 p.m. on March 18. Reserve your return flight to depart after 12 p.m. on March 25. Note that the welcome aboard party begins at 4 p.m. on March 18, so best to arrive in time to clear customs and get to the ship.

Our cruise does not include airfare, transfers, extra hotel nights before and after the cruise and shore excursions. You are responsible for alcoholic beverages (except when included in STI events), meals not indicated in itinerary, incidentals such as laundry and phone calls, gratuities to STI staff ($10-$15 per day) and Star Clipper crew members. The approximate gratuity is $10 USD per day which is pooled by the entire crew.

The currency used in the Grenadine Islands is the EC (Eastern Caribbean) dollar. No need to stock up on local currency, as the USD is welcomed on the islands. We suggest small denominations of cash or traveler’s checks, since you will probably receive EC in exchange for purchases. $1USD=$2.7EC (subject to change at any time).

Aboard the Royal Clipper, you’ll set up an on-board account with a credit card to charge onboard purchases such as bar tab and shore excursions to your cabin. The currently onboard Star Clippers is the Euro.

Prepare by verifying with your credit card company whether or not they have an international conversion fee. Some allow charges with no fee, others charge up to 3% per transaction.

Credit Cards: WSA accepts VISA, MC, Discover, cash and travelers checks aboard the Royal Clipper. American Express is not accepted aboard ship nor in the islands.

We generally recommend $300-$500 to members based on their lifestyles. Most charges such as cocktails, excursions and and tips for the crew are able to be placed on your shipboard account and charged to your credit card. Allow for shopping in port and any off ship dining.

Yes and be sure to confirm that your passport is current and will be valid at least six months after your departure. If you do not have one or need a new one, contact the State Department Passport Office in your area immediately or visit http://www.travel.state.gov/. We recommend that you also make copies of your passport, driver’s license, photo identification card and/or birth certificate in case of loss, and carry them with you on your trip separate from your passport.

Visas may be required for non US citizens and it is every member’s responsibility to obtain the proper documentation prior to departure from the US.

Never pack your passport or other important documentation in your checked luggage!

Absolutely. But our FIRST 10 CABINS HAVE NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT!

After that, our site is so popular that we guarantee to find a roommate for you or the single cabin is on us! Guarantees are based on the lowest priced category. Upgrades are charged the full single rate less the lowest share credit if no equal match is found. In order to take advantage of our offer, you must be paid in full by December 16, 2016.

Of course, single cabins are available at an additional 50%, assessed by Star Clipper. Even after the cut-off date, we get so many calls that finding a roommate is easy. So please let us know if you are interested when making your booking.

Our guarantee is based on the lowest, inside cabin share rate. If you opt for a higher category and we are unable to match in that category, you are responsible for the difference to move a member into your cabin to make a match. You may also opt to take your own cabin at that time for the single cabin rate. Assessments are made at final payment date, 90 days prior to departure.

Roommate matches are based on the same sex, general age range and smoking preference whenever possible, but not guaranteed. STI reserves the right to make any match up until day of cruising, including roommate changes once onboard for members who select the Share & Save option.

We highly recommend that our guests contact their roommates in advance. Booked members have access to our private online chat. Meet your roommate as well as the other members on your vacation. Singles Travel International makes every effort to accommodate requests, but does not guarantee the satisfaction or success of a roommate match. It’s the responsibility of the guest to contact his/her roommate and ask the appropriate questions.

Optional pre and post cruise/tour stays are not eligible for the guarantee. Chances are excellent that we’ll find you a match, but if no match found by 30 days prior to departure, member pays the single supplement.

Read more about Roommate Matching on our Frequently Asked Questions found at the Help Center.

Please contact your preferred carrier directly to make your reservation. If Singles Travel International issues a promotional economy fare, granting of frequent flyer credit is entirely at the airline’s discretion. If the flights are eligible, to ensure you earn frequent flyer credit from the airline, give your frequent flyer account number when you check in for your flights. In addition, save your boarding passes and the passenger receipt from your airline ticket. You may need to submit these to the airline (not to Singles Travel International) to claim any credit allowed.

Inspired by the tall ship Preussen, the Royal Clipper has the proud distinction of being the largest and only five-masted full-rigged sailing ship built since her predecessor was launched at the beginning of the last century. With her complement of 42 sails, Royal Clipper is a splendid sight to behold.

You might think she was an apparition from the grand age of sail, but Royal Clipper is as new as tomorrow, boasting state-of-the-art navigation systems and every comfort and luxury one could wish for. For connoisseurs of sail cruising, the 439 foot Royal Clipper offers the ultimate sea-going experience, balancing the grandeur, adventure and tradition of sailing with the superb service, amenities and accommodations of the finest modern yacht. Royal Clipper carries just 227 guests in luxurious style. A full 19,000 square feet of open deck and three swimming pools create a wonderfully spacious and expansive outdoor environment.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports. And the ultimate unique Royal Clipper experience, the one-of-a-kind Captain Nemo Lounge, is the site of our spa and health club with underwater glass portholes!

No! Just relax and laze about and leave the sailing to Royal Clipper’s professional crew. But if you wish to learn the ropes, the crew is more than happy to have you help hoist the sails, take a turn at the wheel and even enjoy classes on knot tying, the stars, or navigation.

Climb the mast (with safety harness provided) to one of the passenger lookout crows-nests and get the most spectacular view ever!

Yes! A Complimentary Watersports Program Includes Water-skiing, Windsurfing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding, Sunfish Sailing and Snorkeling.

A convenient marina platform lowers from the stern for watersports.

Most of the day is spent in port exploring the ports of call. Excursions and activities vary from port to port. Hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, island tours, beach BBQ’s, sunbathing on pristine beaches, hikes, and so much more. Most landings will be dry.

Excursion prices are subject to change at any time but generally cost $50 and up. STI will provide a sneak peak before you depart. All options are purchased onboard, not in advance, and billed directly to your shipboard account.

Yes. Coffee, tea and juices are available at all meals on a complimentary basis.

Singles Travel International has also included a Welcome Aboard Ice Breaker Party with Complimentary Open Bar and Sumptuous Hors d’oeuvres as well as Complimentary Wine with Dinner Every Night!

Smoking is permitted in designated areas at the Tropical Bar and on Sun Deck. Candles, matches and lighters may never be used in your cabin.

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every cruise sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 22 years, we have perfected the singles cruise experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day.

From the moment you board the ship, our STI Travel Directors are waiting to meet you at our Hospitality Desk. Our first evening begins with a private, welcome aboard cocktail party followed by daily activities both onboard the ship as well as in each port. We dine together each evening in an open seating arrangement so that you have a chance to meet as many people as possible.

Our “All Ages” vacations cater to 45+ and our average age range is 46 to 66. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline and STI does not guarantee ages and ratios. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee the ages or ratios.

Our winter getaway will feel just right compared to snow, ice and sub zero temps back home!

Temperatures average 81 degrees annually. During December through April, days may reach 90 degrees with nights in the 80 degree range, while July through October is the coolest time with temperatures in the low to mid 80s with warm, intermittent rain showers.

Seasickness is seldom a problem on large sailing vessels. The wind in the sails prevents much of the rolling motion that may cause sea sickness. If you are prone to motion sickness or have experienced seasickness in the past, consult your doctor for a patch, an appropriate medication or natural remedies. Make sure to take your medication prior to sailing or feeling ill, or it may not be effective.

STI notes that ginger used as an ingredient in many of the local dishes was a plus for keeping us from getting an upset stomach.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check two bags, weighing 50 pounds each, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Note: Pack light! We recommend a soft sided or duffel type bag due to limited space in your cabin. There are no safes in the cabins nor locks on the doors (except from inside), so leave those valuables at home.

This week is super relaxed, no formalities! Don’t forget a light jacket or sweatshirt for night breezes when star gazing. If you plan on hiking don’t forget a pair of sneakers or hiking boots, otherwise, bare feet and sandals are all you’ll need. The sun is stronger down in the islands, so make sure you use a stronger sunscreen than you’d use at home. If you must doll up and need to have your hairdryer and curling iron, electricity onboard is standard US 110 volts. Also bring, your contract of passage/Confirmation from STI, passport and picture ID. Don’t forget your pirate attire for our Farewell Party!

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable, including prescription medications and travel documents. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

My Packing List: We highly recommend that you bring the following items.

– An open minded attitude and a ready smile!
– Soft sided duffle bag for easy storage and easy access (may be stored under your bed).
– Light jacket or long sleeve shirt for evenings on deck star gazing.
– Tevas or deck shoes for onboard (or barefoot).
– A pair of sneakers or hiking boots
– Sunglasses, sun block, sun hat or visor. Sun is much stronger on the water than on land, even when temps are cooler.
– A pair of binoculars.
– Light rain gear.
– Air freshener.
– Bug spray and Benadryl cream.
– Toiletries: all your daily essentials and a toiletry bag with hook for hanging.
– Drinking Swag (based on your personal needs): Temps are hot and humid and all drinks sweat, keep em cool or hot with a Travel Coffee Cup with lid, Travel water bottle, Beer Coozie, Turvis (insulted) glass, small collapsible cooler.
– Beach towel if desired, not necessary. Pareo wrap for ladies.
– Be the life of the party! Being glow in the dark party favors.
– Prescription medications: sufficient supply for the entire trip plus legible written prescription in case of loss. Keep medications in their original, labeled container. Always pack your medications in your carry-on bag!
– Eyeglasses, contacts, contact lens solution. You may want to bring along a written prescription for your eyewear in case of loss.
– Over the counter medications: cold remedy, aspirin/pain reliever, antacid/stomach upset remedy, Band-Aids, Neosporin or other anti-bacterial medication.
– Power strip for all your gadgets – most cabins have only one outlet.
– Travel alarm clock with illuminated face, especially for guests in an inside cabin.
– Small, Swiss Army type utility knife. Remember to pack this in your checked luggage!
– Travel journal/notepad and reading material.
– Home address book (iphone/smart phone) for sending postcards. A useful tip to avoid bringing your entire address book is to pre-write names and addresses of people to whom you want to send postcards on sheets of self-adhesive labels. It saves time and space in your luggage.
– Small, basic sewing kit with a few extra buttons. Remember to pack scissors in your checked bag!
– Photography Equipment: Bring a sufficient supply of film and extra batteries. If you are bringing a digital camera, you should bring extra memory chips.

Travel Insurance is available through Travel Guard and in addition to direct access immediately upon completing your purchase, you will receive a quote from Travel Guard regarding travel insurance after reserving your vacation.  If you have any questions, Travel Guard professional, expert agents are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   Call us, if you have not received your quote within 3 days.

Your Final Vacation Details & Meetup Info Document (posted here on FAQ 14 days prior to departure) will include phone contact numbers for the ship and hotel. We suggest you leave a copy of this with your family.

You may be able to use your own phone plan if you add an international calling package before you depart, generally .99-1.99 per minute (check before departure). Data packages are also a great idea to add to your plan if you wish to stay connected on social media. STI was able to get 120G for $30 with AT&T. Well worth it!

There are direct dial phones in each cabin aboard the SVP Star Flyer, but charges are generally $10 per minute. Internet cafes are available in some ports, not all.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. In an emergency after hours, please have your family contact Tammy Weiler at 815-715-6998.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

What Our Members Are Saying

I had a wonderful time sailing on the recent Singles Sailing Adventure! It was awesome to hear Amazing Grace played every day when the sails were hoisted as we set sail for another port destination. The food was excellent. There was plenty of opportunity for scuba, snorkel, or just touring the islands. Thank you so much for the great adventure.

It was amazing! I had a little of everything one could ever want on my first vacation ever! The greatest people were in our group, and the Avalon Night in Miami before meeting on the cruise really helped to make everyone comfortable with each other; as if we've known each other for a long time. What I felt made STI stand out from the rest is that it's about people - not about getting mates, but developing friendships, memories and real foundations, nothing superficial. AWWW GREAT!!! I will be going again with you all - Hugs, and again, thank you so much for all you did to get us together and made it a blast to remember.
