Santa Fe, the oldest capital city in the United States, is perched at 7,000 feet above sea level. Its crooked streets, combined with its stunning location at the base of Sangre de Cristo mountains, provide a setting quite unlike any other city in the U.S. Its variety of architecture—which ranges from Pueblo style to Romanesque to Gothic—is yet another thing that sets it apart. Often referred to as the “City Different,” Santa Fe became the first American city to be designated a UNESCO Creative City, acknowledging its place in the global community as a leader in art, crafts, design, and lifestyle.

On this fun weekend, we’ll explore both some of the culture as well as cuisine of this fascinating small American city!

“We strongly encourage all our members to check the latest travel recommendations by the US State Department, CDC and air carriers to review the latest information for travel risks in order to make an informed decision about their travel safety.  See our FAQ section for more information.”

Itinerary

Tour Begins in Santa Fe, NM, Sept. 2, 2021
Tour Ends in Santa Fe, NM, Sept. 6, 2021

Day 1 – Thursday – September 2
Welcome Meet and Greet

STI Members arrive at the Albuquerque airport (ABQ); transportation from the airport to the hotel is on your own (refer to the FAQ tab). Check into the Inn of the Governors (after 4 p.m.). If you arrive early, the hotel will store your bags and you are free to explore the town on your own. Check in with your STI Concierge at the hotel this afternoon, meet your fellow travelers, sign up for tours and get oriented on your first day.

This evening, we will enjoy a welcome drink at the hotel so that you can meet and mingle with new friends! Our concierge will highlight our trip as we sign up for any optional tours for the weekend. The night is young and, of course, our STI Concierge will join you for an included welcome dinner at a fabulous restaurant near our centrally located hotel!

Day 2 – Friday –September 3

After a hearty breakfast at our hotel, we’ll meet our local expert art guide and begin a 2-hour private guided walking tour of the Canyon Road Art District. Home to more than 80 art galleries, Canyon Road is a “must see” for any art lover visiting Santa Fe.

On this fun and personal walking tour, we’ll visit three to four galleries that encompass a range of artistic styles and media. Our guide is a  seasoned art museum educator and will want to get us chatting, sharing, laughing and enjoying art in a new way!

After our tour, relax for the afternoon before we embark upon a fun and filling foodie walking tour together! On this tour, we’ll explore the downtown Historic Plaza neighborhood by foot while sampling the best in local food and wine, sampling classic New Mexican flavors as well as new flavors on the Santa Fe culinary scene. You’ll sample 4 food tastings and 1 wine tasting, all the while learning about the city’s long and fascinating history, with an emphasis on how Native, Hispanic, and Anglo cultures shaped – and were shaped by – the region’s unique (and delicious!) food culture.

Day 3 – Saturday – September 4

Half-Day Private Tour to Bandelier National Monument (5 hrs)

After breakfast as out hotel, we’ll board our private minibus to go to Bandelier National Park. Once there, we’ll journey to the ancient cliff dwellings carved into volcanic ash, once home to the ancestors of contemporary Pueblo Indians who continue to live throughout the region. You’ll even have the opportunity to climb  ladders for a look into their homes.

There will be time to visit the National Park Service visitor center and museum which are housed in historic buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. After our walk, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade of the cottonwood trees, listening to the song of Frijoles Creek, the lifeblood of the community that resided in this canyon for many years.

After our private tour, we’ll head back to our hotel in Santa Fe for a relaxing afternoon and dinner on our own.

There are many mouth-watering options in town, from the most basic to the most famous restaurants in Santa Fe. As always, our STI Concierge is available to assist with dinner reservations.

Day 4 – Sunday – September 5

Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before heading out for a day of independent exploration. There are so many fun and interesting things to do in and around Santa Fe!

For those who booked the Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride, you will be picked up at the hotel bright at early to embark upon that adventure and then will return to the hotel in the early afternoon!

In the evening we’ll reconnect for a wonderful Farewell Dinner!

Day 5 – Monday– September 6

Enjoy breakfast before checking out. We hope you enjoyed your stay in historic Santa Fe!

Its traditional rooms are rich in color, decorated in a charming southwestern style. Located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, just steps away from the historic Santa Fe plaza, it’s a perfect spot for exploring legendary Santa Fe and all the town has to offer.

The hotel has a year-round heated outdoor pool for your enjoyment.

Plus, your STI Concierge will be on hand to take care of your every need. It’s not only what we do, it’s who we are!

Of course not. You will be pleased to find out that nearly 90% of our guests on every trip sign up and have never met anyone before joining the group. In 26 years, we have perfected the singles vacation experience. It is paramount that our guests meet each other right away and have opportunities to mingle every day. From the moment you join our tour, our heroes, the STI Travel Concierge team is waiting to meet you. Our first day begins with a get together and the camaraderie builds as we go along.

Our “Baby Boomer” vacations cater to singles in their 50s and 60s but you will often meet singles ranging anywhere from 45-75. We generally have a ratio of 60/40, women to men. As a travel club, matchmaking is not our focus. Ages listed on our page are not restricted. They are simply used as a guideline. We offer an opportunity for single travelers to see the world in the company of other singles and do not guarantee ratios or ages.

We recommend that you meet the members of the STI Community online, where you may view and interact with members via “Who’s Going” on every trip page. This is the best way to find out exactly who will be on your vacation.

We encourage our members to complete their personal profiles including a photo. Knowing who’s on the trip in advance makes socializing before and during your vacation easier and more fun.

Gorgeous! You may expect sunny days with daytime temperatures to be in the mid-to-high 70s. Evening temperatures are generally in the low 60s. Rain is always possible, so come prepared with rain gear and a jacket for evenings.

There is no baggage limit at the hotel.

Currently, most airlines will allow you to check one bag, weighing 40 pounds, for a fee. In addition you may carry-on one bag plus a personal item such as a purse or briefcase. Please check with your air carrier for up-to-the minute regulations and fees for checked baggage.

Remember to bring casual and comfortable clothing and shoes for the daytime! If you want to dress up at bit for the evenings, feel free, but in general Santa Fe is very casual. In the evening, a light jacket or shawl may be required.

Packing Tips: Take only what you need; don’t over pack. Save room for souvenirs and purchases. Pack flat and full to avoid wrinkling. Bring wardrobe basics; mix and match around one or two colors. Don’t pack anything valuable, fragile or perishable. Label your luggage with an outside tag, and place an identification card inside each suitcase.

– A good, comfortable pair of broken-in walking shoes.
– A pair of shoes for restaurants (loafers, sandals, etc).

What Our Members Are Saying

I just came back from a fantastic Mediterranean vacation aboard the Norwegian Epic. STI was fantastic from the office staff to our cruise hostesses June and Georgia. I look forward to traveling with STI again in the future!

The Epic Med cruise was fantastic. It was my first trip to Europe and was a nice taste of Spain, Italy and France. The day I saw there was a cruise without a single supplement was when I signed up. Nice group and made lots of new friends. Thanks STI!
