Itinerary

Wed, Dec 21 :  Buenos Aires, Argentina: Singles Travel International 2 Day Pre Package Arrivals. Transfer to hotel on your own, or purchase a transfer on the “Book Now” button on the trip page. Singles-Only Meet and Greet followed by Optional Dinner.
Thu, Dec 22:  Buenos Aires, Argentina: Singles Travel International 1 Day Pre Package Arrivals. Group transfer from Buenos Aires Airport (EZE) to our hotel is included. Specific times will be arranged. Singles-Only Meet and Greet followed by Optional Dinner.
Fri, Dec 23:  Buenos Aires, Argentina: (B,D) Free morning to explore. In the afternoon, leisurely 4-hour walking tour of the gorgeous city of Buenos Aires. On this tour, we’ll get a historic and political perspective of the city, starting from the Plaza de Mayo, heart of BA and its center since the colonial period, the place of expression of the saddest and happiest moments of our history. Also, surrounded by the Government House, known as the “Pink House” and the Cathedral. Walking the grand boulevard of Avenida de Mayo, we’ll see some of the city’s architectural wonders and the Obelisk, which rises as a symbol of the city. Taking Av. 9 de Julio, we’ll have a nice postcard of Buenos Aires: Evita Mural and the Obelisk. A guide will show us in the inside of the majestic Colon Theater, one of the best Opera Houses in the world. We will return to the hotel by a short stop at the traditional Caffe Tortoni for a coffee break. Tortoni is the paradigm of Buenos Aires, but little is known about its origins. Personalities such as Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Gardel, Luigi Pirandello, Federico García Lorca, Julio Cortázar and Carlos Gardel used to sit at its wooden and marble tables to discuss arts and politics. In the evening, we’ll cook and taste a traditional Argentinian menu. This unique dinner party’s concept is to teach the fundamentals of what being an Argentine is all about, while simply having more fun than anything else. Learn how to close your own empanada using the “repulge technique,” to order steak in Spanish, and to prepare your own “mate” drink!
Sat, Dec 24:  Buenos Aires, Argentina (B,L, Christmas Dinner & Tango Show)  Enjoy breakfast at our hotel before setting off for a half-day tour of the “Southern City,” the Southern part of BA. San Telmo is an ideal bohemian neighborhood, and with our guide we’ll delight in its cozy old-fashioned atmosphere while learning about the city’s past. San Telmo was inhabited by the richest families in the city until the yellow fever epidemic ravaged the area and the survivors moved north of the city. San Telmo is one of the best-preserved neighborhoods in the city and is full of places of interest, such as the Zanjón de Granados, the Penitentiary Museum, or places as curious as the Minimum House which, with 2.50 meters wide and 13 meters deep is the narrowest house in the city. The heart of San Telmo is formed by Plaza Dorrego, the oldest in the city after Plaza de Mayo. It is a historic square because the independence of 1816 was announced to the people of the city there. We will take Balcarce Street and head south, appreciating some of the cartoons that reflect Argentine society. It is a section of the Paseo de la Historieta where you can see Mafalda. We will follow a fascinating underground trip into the origins of the city in the Zanjon de Granados museum. Excavations in the 1830 old mansion led to the uncovering of the ancient Zanjón (ravine) which extended over the whole length of the square. Belonging to a wealthy family with six slaves, it was turned into a tenement by 1890. After more than 20 years of restoration, it is now part of “El Zanjón – Idea Site” that includes three buildings and is internationally recognized as an archaeological gem. After a short ride we will arrive in the picturesque and colorful port neighborhood of La Boca with its famous street, “Caminito.” This  neighborhood was highly influenced by European immigration at the end of 19th century. La Boca is the place where tango was born as result of the bohemian and artistic culture of the immigrants. The houses where they used to live form a unique mixture of colors that make La Boca one of the most attractive places. Lunch included in local restaurant (drinks not included). We’ll return to our hotel in the late afternoon and will freshen up before departing for our Singles Travel International Signature Experience: Dinner and Tango Show at “la Ventana”! It is the best Tango Dinner-Show if you want to enjoy an excellent cuisine and Argentine wines, in addition to providing an unforgettable tango and folklore show consisting of 32 artists on the stage: two orchestras, four pairs of dancers, two singers, altiplano music and “boleadoras” show!
Sun, Dec 25:  Buenos Aires/Tigre, Argentina: (B) Breakfast at hotel; free morning. Afternoon tour to Tigre and Delta (5 hrs). We will cross along the Costanera Avenue that is parallel to the Río de la Plata, giving us beautiful views of our river; we will pass next to the Presidential Residence (Quinta de Olivos), where all the Argentinian Presidents used to live during their presidencies. The first stop will be in the City of San Isidro. Our guides will take us to know the beautiful Cathedral of San Isidro and the popular mansions inhabited by old aristocratic families from Buenos Aires. We’ll continue the journey to Tigre. In Tigre we’ll get on board a shuttle catamaran, where we will enjoy a 60-minute tour of the Delta. We will enjoy the landscape of rivers and streams that intersect, forming numerous islands. You will be able to see the lifestyle of the local people and how they interact with the services that operate in a floating mode in the Rivers: boats, rafts, water taxis. We’ll also see the houses built on stakes and the house-museum of former president Sarmiento. At the end of the boat trip, we’ll make your way back to Buenos Aires. Free evening and dinner.
Mon, Dec 26:  Buenos Aires, Argentina: (B,L) Early breakfast at hotel before boarding our coach for a full-day adventure you’ll never forget: a Gaucho Fiesta! We’ll visit first a typical Estancia Argentina. By eating Empanada or Asado, which is an Argentinean style of making barbecue, we can feel the atmosphere of country life. We’ll hear some traditional local folk music and have the chance to dance tango with one another. Afterward, we’ll watch the Gauchos’ traditional horse race while also having the opportunity to ride a horse! You are going to feel like a real Gaucho! Return to Buenos Aires for a free evening.
Tue, Dec 27:  Buenos Aires/Iguassu, Argentina (B) After breakfast and checkout, we’ll transfer to the airport for a flight to Foz do Iguaçu, where we’ll stay for two nights. In this part of Brazil, we’ll have the opportunity to visit the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Iguazú National Park (entrance is included). After checking into our hotel, we’ll head to the waterfalls and will experience the breathtaking “Garganta del Diabolo” (Canyon of the devil) and the waterfalls called “Bozetti”, “San Martin” and “the two sisters” via a hiking route. This hike is on a paved trail and is considered light walking/hiking and is suitable for most fitness levels. Return to the hotel for a free evening and relaxation. Return to hotel for a free evening.
Wed, Dec 28:  Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil/Iguassu, Argentina (B,D) Today we’re set for another day of natural beauty, but this time in Brazil! From the Brazilian countryside, we’ll visit the sister World Heritage property Iguaçu National Park and will have a breathtaking point of view to gaze at the falls. We’ll enjoy a leisurely 1.2 kilometer walk to observe the falls. During the visit, we’ll participate in an adventure called Macuco Safari Boat along the Iguazu River; this boat will take us to within a few meters of the spectacular waterfalls! An electric jeep carries visitors to the river’s edge along a trail, for a distance of 3 kilometers, passing through native forest. In the evening, we’ll enjoy a night in the Churrascaria Rafain, to discover the music and traditional dances of Latin America. This music and folk dances are, in fact, accompanied by typical Brazilian, Argentinian, Chilean, Peruvian, Bolivian and Paraguayan melodies. The Rafain Churrascaria Show features Argentine tango, traditional Mexican songs, Andean music and capoeira and Brazilian samba. All accompanied by a delicious Churrasco with a large variety of selected meats and a buffet with over 200 hot and cold dishes. Return to hotel.
Thu, Dec 29:  Rio de Janeiro (B,D) After breakfast, we’ll head to the airport for our flight to Rio de Janeiro. We’ll check into our hotel and will have free time to get settled and do some exploring. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a group dinner at the famous Churrascaria Palace. Located in Copacabana, this steakhouse is internationally renowned for its authentic menu and service. Return to the hotel or go out on the town!
Fri, Dec 30:  Rio de Janeiro (B,L) Our half-day tour starts after breakfast with an excursion to “Corcovado” mountain.  By using a comfortable train from the bottom of the mountain, we’ll arrive at the top. From there, you take a panorama elevator up to the most famous emblem of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro: the monument of Christ enthroned. From this viewing platform, we can enjoy one of the most spectacular panorama views in the world. Lunch at a Churrascaria before returning to our hotel for a free evening.
Sat, Dec 31:  Rio de Janeiro (B) – New Year’s Eve After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a half-day Jeep tour to the Botanical Gardens and Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world! We’ll stop at the Chinese View belvedere with a magnificent view of Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, the Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf. Inside the forest, we stop at a beautiful waterfall for a refreshing bath and walk through a trail of easy trekking. During the tour, usually we can see tropical animals like monkeys, sloths and exotic birds; we will continue with the excursion to the botanical garden of Rio de Janeiro, considered one of the most important in the world. It covers about 140 hectares and contains over 6000 species of different tropical and subtropical trees and plants, with exuberant colors and shapes that make it a real ecological sanctuary among the most important in the world. Return to the hotel to get ready for a New Year’s Eve you’ll never forget, as we’ll be in the Copacabana district to dance in the streets and watch the amazing fireworks display!!
Sun, Jan 1:  Rio de Janeiro (B,D) After partying until the wee hours of the night, we’ll sleep in today! Then, in the early afternoon, we’ll enjoy a half-day tour of Old Rio de Janeiro and Sugarloaf. Novembre” and the cultural centre, which is located in the refurbished bank “Banco do Brasil.” Furthermore, we’ll see the most famous street, “Goncalves Dias,” where a traditional bar named “Colombo” is situated. Argentina’s national currency is the Argentine peso (ARS). Note that it has the same symbol ($) as the US dollar and other dollar currencies. The rate can fluctuate daily, but currently 1 ARS is equivalent to $0.0094.

The Brazilian real (BRL) is the official currency of Brazil. It is subdivided into 100 centavos. The rate fluctuates daily, but currently 1 BRL is equivalent to $0.19.

It is common to use US dollars when traveling in Argentina and in Brazil –  the U.S. dollar is generally accepted. Most shopkeepers in Brazil, for example, know the exchange rate and are happy to exchange the US dollar for you, if it means they will make a sale.

However, it is always nice to have some local currency on hand, and typically the least expensive way to get local currency is by using an ATM once you reach your destination. For this, you must have a Debit card from your bank. Please make sure to alert your bank that you will be traveling internationally before you go. Alternately, you can go to your local bank and purchase ARSs and BRLs before you travel.

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and most debit cards are also widely accepted throughout Argentina and Brazil. Some credit card companies may charge small international transaction fees, so it’s best to check with your provider before leaving home.

Your credit card will be accepted to settle your bill (for incidentals) at the hotels, as well as in major shops and restaurants.

Your “Final Vacation Details & Meetup Information” including transportation and how to meet up with the group will be available on the YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS button on the left navigation bar on the trip site 21 days prior to trip start date.

All countries you will visit have laws against the purchase and export of certain items, including antiquities, national cultural property and certain animal products, especially endangered species (ivory, rhino horn, tortoise shell, coral, feathers, etc.). Additionally, the United States has laws prohibiting the import of certain items, which include many of the same things. You face having your purchase confiscated and/or heavy fines for exporting or importing prohibited items.

On return to the U.S., your baggage is subject to search by U.S. Customs. Currently, you are permitted to bring back $800 of goods duty free. Persons aged 21 or over may also bring in one liter of liquor and one carton of cigarettes. If you plan to purchase a lot of souvenirs or expensive items, it is important to retain all purchase receipts. However, please note that U.S. Customs may not accept a receipt as true cost if it seems unusually low for the estimated value of the item. You may access the regulations and restrictions governing US Customs on their official website, click here to learn more.

What Our Members Are Saying

I just came back from a fantastic Mediterranean vacation aboard the Norwegian Epic. STI was fantastic from the office staff to our cruise hostesses June and Georgia. I look forward to traveling with STI again in the future!

The Epic Med cruise was fantastic. It was my first trip to Europe and was a nice taste of Spain, Italy and France. The day I saw there was a cruise without a single supplement was when I signed up. Nice group and made lots of new friends. Thanks STI!
